At the center of a far away galaxy, there is a spinning blue star, whose track pulsates since eons and is visible from a certain part of the Southern Skies.
All around, there are common stars too, but sailors love meeting up on the strand with the local shaman, when it is not pouring, to discuss what it is going on there.
In addition, there are tracks that go across the spinning blue spiral like blue and turquoise ribbons.
One night, a sailor said that the blue star by continually running in circles would end up like the other stars: tiny, and unnoticed.
His companions nodded. Yes, it must be so.
The local shaman, however, shook his head and chanted a long syllable. The longer he did so, the brighter the track of the blue star would become. The ribbon-like tracks were also much bluer.
The sailors marveled.
"Now you try," said the shaman.
The men were diffident, but at length two came forward.
This time, as they chanted a heartfelt song, the track of the spinning star stood completely still, and got bigger and bigger.
After that, the sailors, who were very superstitious, said:
"That must be a shaman's trick."
"No trick," said the shaman.
And how is all this happening then?
"The spinning blue star is a cosmic detector."
"What!?"
"You are longing for the beauty of summer at home and the warmth of your dear ones."
"And how can you say?" said the most diffident of all the sailors.
"I can because I observe it all the time, and it changes every time some one chants with truths in their hearts. And it goes on spinning detecting bits and pieces here and there to transform into the blue star ribbons that make up the whole galaxy."
All sailors felt more comforted that evening: there was a quick, tiny, blue snake of a star capturing their dreams and desires, and weaving a new whole galaxy out of them, at all times.
Then, they all went inside and drank a bit of scented grog to sleep better and help to form the galaxy with their dreams, except that at day break, the sailors had all forgotten about the spinning galaxy, and where ready to resume their duties on Her Majesty's ship.
The shaman had disappeared.
