SMALL WORLD

On a lazy Sunday afternoon, I found myself in the midst of a mandatory post-lunch nap. As I slowly woke up from my slumber around 4 p.m., I reached for my phone and mindlessly began scrolling through Instagram reels. Among the various communities and accounts that caught my eye, one in particular stood out - Small World. Their reels always left me feeling a sense of curiosity and wonder, as if there was something magical about this small world they portrayed.

Intrigued, I decided to delve deeper into their account, exploring their posts and stories. It was during this exploration that I stumbled upon a link to their WhatsApp group. Without hesitation, I joined the group, eager to learn more about the upcoming meets and events they organised. As I introduced myself to the group, messages began flooding in from unknown numbers. The sudden influx of messages took me aback, each one asking about weekend plans or suggesting a cosy cafe for a cup of coffee.

Feeling overwhelmed by the barrage of messages from unfamiliar faces, I realized that this was not the kind of interaction I was comfortable with. As someone who needed time to open up to new people, especially when it came to social outings, I quickly made the decision to exit the group. Before leaving, I politely replied to each message, explaining that I had mistakenly joined the group and that it didn't feel like the right fit for me.

Even after my departure, a few persistent individuals continued to message me privately. One of these messages stood out: a message from a boy named Mihir. His first message was playful and flirtatious, reminiscent of a scene from a Bollywood movie. He had seen my picture and thought that we were meant to be. I couldn't help but smile as I read his text, and without hesitation, I replied with a simple "Hello."

Sometimes, unexpected connections are formed through the most unlikely circumstances. As I continued chatting with Mihir I felt an instant connection, a spark that ignited a sense of comfort and familiarity. It was during our conversations that I discovered he had battled through a period of deep depression, which only fueled my desire to support and be there for him. I firmly believed that it was our responsibility as human beings to provide mental support to those who were struggling with life's battles.

Despite the fact that Mihir was officially 20 years younger than me, his maturity far surpassed his age. I found solace in his understanding of nature and his resemblance to Bunny, the charismatic character from the famous movie "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani." I had always longed for a Bunny in my life, and it seemed as though fate had finally brought him to me, even if he came in a different form.

Our conversations grew more frequent, and we began to develop a deep connection. Mihir's presence in my life brought about a sense of joy and excitement that I hadn't experienced in a long time. It was as if we were living our own version of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani," where love blossomed amidst adventure and self-discovery.

As our bond strengthened, I couldn't help but reflect on my own upbringing. Like Naina, the character from the movie, my life had been shaped by strict parents and a sheltered existence. But deep down, I knew I was more like Aditi - a free spirit yearning for love and adventure. It was through Mihir that I realized the stark difference between falling in love with a character and falling in love with the person behind that character.

In the midst of our blossoming romance, I found myself caught between the desire for a love like Bunny and the reality of my own life. The age difference between us was undeniable, and I couldn't help but question the feasibility of a relationship with such a significant gap. Yet, as I looked into Mihir's eyes and felt the warmth of his embrace, I knew that love had no boundaries or limitations.

Our story continued to unfold, filled with moments of laughter, tears, and shared dreams. Mihir became my confidant, my partner in crime, and my pillar of strength. Together, we embarked on countless adventures, exploring the world and discovering the true meaning of love and companionship.

In the end, it wasn't the character I had longed for, but the person who embodied the qualities I admired. Mihir had become my very own Bunny, and I had found my own version of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani." Our love story was a testament to the fact that sometimes, the most extraordinary love stories are born out of unexpected circumstances, defying societal norms and expectations.

As I reflect on our journey, I am reminded that life is a beautiful tapestry of moments, and it is up to us to embrace the unexpected and seize the opportunities that come our way. Love knows no boundaries, and when we open our hearts to the possibilities that lie before us, we may just find our own version of a happily ever after.
