Katrina lived with her father for three years after the death of her mother. He never let her go to school after her death. Her father remarried, wanting to have the love of a wife. He married a very kind woman Valda. She did not like the fact of Katrina not going to school. So Valda asked the permission of her husband to let Katrina go join the school again. He agreed.
Katrina was so happy. She got some money from Valda and went shopping. She picked different color binders for different subjects. She brought stationary and a few clothes that look good to wear in school. She slept happily that day.
The next day, she woke up with a smile on her face which she didn't have for three years. She had a bath, wore a pink T-shirt, Black leggings and grabbed her comb and put her hair into a ponytail.
She went down for breakfast. Valda sat there with a smile on her face serving food to Katrina's father who was reading a newspaper. Katrina greeted them and sat down for breakfast. She piled up the food on her plate and finished it quickly. She grabbed her bag and rode to her new school on her bike.
After reaching the school, she searched for boards, leading to the Principal's room. She knocked on the door.
"Come in!", came a female's sweet voice.
Katrina opened the door to find an old woman, busy with some papers. On her table there lay a board that said - 'Principal Mrs. Sofia'
After a few beats, she looked up from her work with a smile.
"Take a seat. What's your name dear?" She asked her.
"Katrina" she replied softly, sitting down on one of the chairs in front of her.
"Ah the new girl," She said with a smile. She nodded and took a file, a bag and gave it to her. Katrina took it from her hand. It had her colorful schedule, a diary, a planner and a paper filled with rules and special days of the year.
She told her the directions for the classes and shooed her away playfully. I checked her schedule and her first class was English class. The English class was room T-9. I went to the class on the third floor. I went and stood outside the class to notice her and let her come in. As soon as the teacher saw her, she beamed at her. The whole class went dead silent and all the eyes were boring on her. she gulped nervously.
"Hello! You must be the new girl, Katrina. I am Olivia Patterson and you can call her Olive. Come in, Katrina." She said. she came in and greeted her still nervous and put her head down shyly.
"Come on to the class dais and tell something about yourself Katrina," She said cheerfully. Katrina gave her a nervous smile and nodded and stepped on to it. All eyes followed her; every single movement is observed.
"I am Katrina. I love watch television and I also love play. I live with her dad and her new Mom Valda!" she finished grinning.
Just after Katrina finished her introduction, the whole class burst out laughing. she frowned.
“She doesn’t know to speak!” commented a boy.
“I love watch television.” A girl Imitated her. “I-I not come school three years!” she defended herself but that only made them laugh more.
She watched them teary eyed. They were pointing her and laughing their heads off. Olive tried to calm them down, but a damaged heart cannot be fixed again. she ran outside the school to her home and threw the door open and ran straight to Valda’s room and jumped on top of her bed and tightly hugged Valda her and her sobs burst out.
Valda rubbed circles on her back surprised but her sudden entry but stayed silent. After her sobs quieted down, when Valda was going to ask what had happened to her sudden entry, she found Katrina asleep with a frown on her beautiful face.
