Never Lose Hope
Delina sat by the window, watching the rain fall, her heart heavy. For months, she’d been battling her mother’s illness, the endless hospital visits, and the feeling that time was slipping away.
One day, as Delina held her mother’s frail hand, her mother whispered, “Promise me something, darling.”
“Anything, Mom,” Delina replied, her voice thick with emotion.
“Never lose hope.”
Delina nodded, trying to hold back tears. How could she promise that when everything felt so hopeless? But her mother’s eyes—those warm, tired eyes—spoke with such conviction that Delina couldn’t refuse.
The days grew harder, the doctors’ words growing bleaker with each visit. Still, Delina clung to her promise. She whispered to herself, Never lose hope, whenever despair threatened to consume her.
Then, one morning, as Delina entered her mother’s room, something was different. Her mother, though still weak, managed a faint smile, and her eyes seemed to have regained a glimmer of life. The doctors had given up, but Delina hadn’t. Her mother was still holding on, drawing strength from the very hope Delina had carried for her.
“See, darling,” her mother said softly, “you’re my hope.”
In that moment, Delina realized hope wasn’t just something you held onto—it was something you gave. Even when the storm seemed unbearable, hope was the one thing you could never afford to lose.
Her mother passed away a few weeks later, but Delina never forgot that lesson. Never lose hope. It became her mantra through the toughest days of her life.
Years later, Delina passed the lesson on to her own children. Life was uncertain, and dreams could shatter, but as long as you held onto hope, you could face anything. Hope wasn’t the absence of pain, but the courage to believe that, no matter how dark the night, the sun would rise again.
