Everyone always says having a child is the most beautiful and best moment of a woman’s life, but that’s not how it went for me. I remember passing out and waking back up again to see many doctors shouting over me like dinosaurs roaring at each other. I remember it all took place at the Denny’s Bowl hospital as I had woken up that morning to my water breaking and my husband rushing me to the hospital. I sat there in pain taking deep breath in and out as my husband kept saying “Everything going to be ok Angel” Angel was the meaning of my name “Malak” which I wanted to name my daughter but in Dubai the father gets to pick the child’s name and speak to the child first before the mother does. After being in pain for hours the doctor said it’s finally time to push but after pushing for 5 minutes the doctor says something not right calling other doctors to help. I remember trying to look down and see what was happening and by the look of my husband face I can tell he wanted to know what went wrong to. Some doctors came in telling me I needed a c section due to the way the baby is position, I heard some stories about people getting c section and then the baby was perfectly in the position it was supposed to be but felt like it wasn’t. So I said “Are you sure I need to get a c section and you guys can’t fix the way the baby is position somway?”. The looks on their faces said it all “Malak there is nothing we can do, the c section has to be done now”, That’s exactly what they look like they wanted to say. I was switch to a different room waiting to get a c section done and remember getting really lightheaded and passing out. When I woke up again my husband give me some water and food the doctors left for me. I ate and then ask were the baby was, the face my husband gave me is not what I like to see. That’s when I started pressing the call button for the doctors in panic.
“She fine baby, she just had some breathing issues and they took her to get cleaned up don’t worry bae”.
I took a deep breath and was just really nervous because this was my first child and wouldn’t want to lose it. The doctor came in and told me good news.
“I see your awake Malak” the doctor said. “she doing fine and she a very healthy baby”.
I took a big breath in relief and look at my husband smiling giving him the “We did it” look before I took my last breath on earth.
“My name is Angel and this is my mom’s birth story”.
