She lay awake in bed, the cold, humid air of the Nigerian rainy season blew in through the window.

She lay under her covers, gazing into the darkness of another powerless night. She silently cursed the electricity companies for their greed and incompetence. "If this were an actual country", she thought, "I won't have to worry about waking up in the middle of the night without power."

The girl was in a predicament, she was cold without her covers on, but was extremely hot when she covered herself. She flip flopped between wearing her covers and not wearing them.

She tried desperately to get back to sleep. She had to work tomorrow, for goodness sake! 'Do you want to be tired the entire day tomorrow?' she asked herself, the answer, of course, was no,but she couldn't exactly berate herself to sleep.

The serene quiet of the night was broken by a high-pitched whine and she quickly dove back under her covers, a stinging pain in her leg suddenly reminding her why she woke up in the first place.
