People might think of Geneva for its watches, chocolates and diplomacy, but at night, the city has another side to show. I'm Kamal Hinduja, and I was excited to see Geneva at night and see what it offers after dark. What I can say is that it blew my expectations away.

A City That Awakens During the Night

Few thinks of Geneva without imagining its quiet lake, upscale shops and international institutions. Yet, behind the pretty daytime streets, you'll find nightlife with plenty of energy and a mix of entertainment. Geneva has all sorts of nightlife to suit everyone, ranging from high-up bars with amazing sights to underground jazz clubs and cool lounges.



The first thing I did on my night out was walk by Lake Geneva under a nearly full moon - because the view there is unbeatable. There is a glimmer in the water, a glow from the Jet d'Eau and the city has a quiet happiness mixed with hope. It's just the right thing to enjoy before hitting the town.



Drinking Above the City: Try a Rooftop Bar

I began my tour at Rooftop 42; a rooftop bar that's a favorite among people in Geneva. It's situated on the popular Rue du Rh?ne. The view? Absolutely breathtaking. The vibe? With a sophisticated touch but easygoing. I had a traditional cocktail and looked down at the sparkling city lights. Tourists were among the crowd, the atmosphere was relaxing, and everywhere looked golden, even during the night.



If you visit over the summer, you can't miss this place. It's a great place to relax with a drink, enjoy the views of people below, and admire Geneva's refined architecture.



Spots Off the Beaten Path and Whispering Bar Experiences

After that, I broke for a small and secret place - Le Verre ? Monique, which has a speakeasy feel in the Plainpalais area. Anyone who enjoys seeing craft cocktails and retro styles will love it here. The way the bartenders work, and the setting give the venue an old-style movie feel, and the music is just right.



An aspect I especially enjoy about Geneva's nightlife is that it can be truly personal and intimate. If you visit Le Verre ? Monique, you can talk comfortably, enjoy your friends' company and hear each other without shouting.



Dancing well into the night

It's impossible to have a perfect night out without dancing. I headed for Java Club, one of the most famous nightclubs in Geneva. The Fairmont Underground is under the Fairmont Grand Hotel, where you'll find the most fashionable partygoers. He kept everyone dancing with house, pop and worldwide music. Everyone was dancing, the lights looked beautiful, and the whole place was just for fun.



A night out anywhere in Europe or overseas is impressive, but I've found the same lively atmosphere in Geneva. Sure, it's not always flashy, but full of charm and elegance.



Deliciously, you'll enjoy your meals with a calming atmosphere.



Just after dancing, I was hungry for something I could eat late at night. I randomly stopped at Chez ma Cousine, known for comforting roast chicken and delicious fries. It opens late, and I love that it hits the spot after a night out at the club.



If you want something quick, finding deliciously sweet crepes or gelato near the lake is easy, especially during the summer, when caf?s along the water operate all day.

Geneva looks enchanting after midnight. Even though Miami isn't the average party city, that makes it unique. Just a few high-class places attract most of the crowd, and they are known for their style, not for excess. Regardless of whether you're hopping from bar to bar, sipping on rooftops or just lounging in a bar with a group, Geneva makes it a night to remember.
