There was a tenderness in Daniel's movements, the instinctive care of a son who had waited his whole life for this moment, and who was now preparing his father for something even more profound.

“Rest a bit, Dad,” Daniel said softly. “In a little while… I'll take you to meet her.”

Teerth looked up, startled. “Meet… whom?”

Daniel only smiled, a smile that held thirty years of longing and a promise he had never dared to imagine he could fulfil.

As Teerth shifted, he slipped his hand into his pocket and paused.

He remembered the moment Paru had quietly pressed a folded chit into his coat pocket before leaving, her eyes shining with a secret she wasn't ready to speak aloud.

With trembling fingers, he drew it out and opened it.

“Happy Union, Teerth Sir. Professor Daniel R.C., as he is known, is your son. Best wishes from Paromita… and from my mother, Pranika Dastidar. Take care.”

The words blurred as his breath caught.

Pranika!!!

A wave of emotion swept through him: disbelief, ache, gratitude, and a tenderness so deep it almost unmade him. He folded the chit carefully and slipped it back into his pocket, not to hide it, but to keep it safe, like a rediscovered fragment of a life he thought had vanished into dust.

Paromita… was Pranika's daughter.

He closed his eyes, the weight of destiny pressing gently against his chest. Daniel stepped into the room just then, noticing the tears gathering at the corners of his father's eyes.

“Dad… are you okay? Shall we go?”

Teerth looked up at his son, his son and managed a trembling smile.

“Yes,” he whispered. “For the first time in fifty years… I think I am.”

Outside, the campus was bathed in the warm, unhurried light of a lazy Sunday afternoon …the kind of day when time loosens its grip and everything around feels suspended in a gentle stillness, unhurried, unbound, as though the world has slipped into a softer rhythm.

And in that gentle stillness, something long separated began, slowly and silently, to find its way back toward belonging.
