It all started with a spilled cup of coffee.

Mira was already having a rough morning.

Her alarm hadn't gone off, and her white blouse had a stain she hadn't noticed until she was already halfway to work. Just when she thought the day couldn't get any worse, a stranger spilled his cappuccino all over the floor of Caf Bliss.

"I'm so sorry!" a male voice exclaimed, clearly panicking.

She turned sharply, annoyance bubbling inside her, but paused when she saw him. He was tall, with soft eyes, clutching a laptop bag as if it were a lifeline. His expression was a mix of guilt and awkward charm.

"It's fine," she muttered. "I was already late. The universe just added this for dramatic effect."

"I'll buy you another one," he offered quickly. "Please. It's the least I can do."

Mira hesitated.

She didn't know him, but his voice was warm - gentle, like a familiar song. Against her usual cautious nature, she nodded. "Okay."

They settled into a corner by the window. His name was Tobi. Hers was Mira.

One cup turned into two, then three.

They laughed about Lagos traffic, debated who the best Nigerian artist was, and discovered they both had a strange love for plantain chips at 2 a.m.

When she checked her phone, she gasped. "Oh no! I missed my meeting!"

Tobi winced. "I'm so sorry - "

"No," she smiled genuinely. "I needed this. Honestly."

He smiled back. "Same here. I almost didn't come here today. Something just... pulled me out of the house."

A moment of silence hung between them.

Then Tobi asked, with a hopeful look, "Would you maybe want to meet again? This time... on purpose?"

Mira lifted her half-empty cup slightly. "Only if there's coffee involved."

He laughed. "Deal."

And just like that...

What began as a spilled drink turned into the start of something new.

Because sometimes, love doesn't arrive with fireworks. Sometimes, it comes softly - through coffee steam, random moments, and the kind of smile that feels like home.
