"Korsa don't worry ok, God will make a way for us."Maame Yaa assured Korsa.
This season was the worst that had ever occured in Antobam,a town North West of Vegatu.
A week ago, there was enough rainfall so the farmers including Maame Yaa and her son Korsa grew their crops but suddenly when the crops began to sprout, a hot weather from nowhere came and because of its hotness,all the crops died immediately.
It was more than a famine and there was drought too.
Maame Yaa who was a poor maize farmer, was also affected.The maize seeds she grew were borrowed from a rich man in the town and now this has happened.She and her son had nothing to feed on so she comforted her son everyday.
Korsa's father Mr.Kuti, was a very rich man but when Korsa turned 3, he lost his life and Maame Yaa was accused of killing her husband.The family members of Mr.Kuti seized all the properties belonging to Mr.Kuti leaving only a half plot none of them knew about except for the couple.
Life became really hard and tough for Maame Yaa and Korsa.
The half plot was what fed them and sent Korsa to school but now it seems like everything is going to be over.
One day, another tragedy occured which almost knocked Maame Yaa unconscious.
Korsa was on his way to their farm to see if they can get some seeds to store and replant them when the rain returns.
Unfortunately,on his way, he by mistake slipped into a pit and broke his left leg.A man who was also on his farm heard his cries and came to his aid.He sent Korsa to the nearest herbalist and quickly informed Maame Yaa about it.
After hearing the news, she almost passed out but got hold of herself and came there.
The herbalist confirmed that Korsa will never be able to walk again.With tears,she sent Korsa to the house.
Everything happening to this family was mellifluous and she everyday grieved that why is God being so nefarious to her.
This mother and son seemed to be the most unluckiest family ever.
II
One day,the villager for the first time heard the sound of a car.All of them ran to the scene and to their supprise,they saw a Mercedes Benz Van and 5 white men and 2 black men allight from the car.
They were very happy and overjoyed.The black men who seemed to speak their local language announced that they were a Non-Governmental Organization who offered help to poor but brilliant people.After some interactions with the local people, they started work.
Maame Yaa who was also at the place rushed quickly to the house and brought Korsa there.
A white guy noticed the condition of Korsa and told them to come forward.After some questions,they decided to test Korsa and to their supprise he performed incredibly well.They selected him and took him away the next day, Maame Yaa was given a phone and taught how to use it so that she can hear from Korsa whenever she wanted to.
This was really a game changing opportunity for them.Korsa was sent back to school and he performed better than all the students there.
Some years later,his leg was removed and replaced by a robot leg that looked exactly like a human leg.He became a medical doctor with a masters degree.He returned home after 15 years to see his mom.When his mom saw him walking,she couldn't believe her eyes,but Korsa later explained to her.After several minutes of tears of joy, they talked a while and then Maame Yaa shouted"OH GOD,AT LONG LAST EVERYTHING HAS FINALLY ENDED,THANK YOU LORD"
After that celebration continued.
