I had just finished adjusting the sound system at the entrance of the Tsakane community hall, ensuring the bass was just right for Mandla Khumalo and Thobile Masango's wedding reception. As the event planning crew chief in this vibrant township, I knew how to bring the party to life.but, unbeknownst to me ,the life of the party did not really depend on my ear pleasing sound system this time around.
Just as I was about to signal Sipho to start spinning, the gates swung open .I turned to take a look and, what I saw ,I swear even
Shakespeare would bite his tongue trying to explain the look.
What a pleasant sight?
My eyes got glued to her everything , I drowned into the effortless elegance of her stride, the confident sway of her hips, and the radiant glow of her skin.
My colleague, Sipho, nudged me. "Zakes, you're staring."
I didn't care. I couldn't look away.
She greeted the wedding party with warmth, exchanging hugs and well-wishes.
I managed to compose myself, reminding myself I had a job to do.
As the ceremony began, I snuck glances at her. She sat in the front row, her beauty mesmerizing.it was like she was hired to brighten up the wedding reception,to add value to the photoshoot or, whatever her story was . there is no way she just came to the wedding like everyone else.
There must be a price for her appearance, unless she's a relative or a close family friend.
After the vows, the reception erupted into chaos – laughter, tears, and music.
I took a deep breath and approached her.
"Hi, I'm Zakes, the event planner," I said, trying to sound suave.
She turned, her smile dazzling. "Nice to meet you."
With no mention of her name,I thought of Angels names MaKhumalo would sing about in church . "Amakenupi
namaSelaphil",or whatever they
call them.
We chatted, exchanging pleasantries. I stumbled over my words, but she laughed, putting me at ease.
As the night wore on, I found myself drawn to her wit, intelligence, and kindness.
And that smile... oh, that smile.
I was hooked.
But I had no idea how to process this sudden infatuation.
Sipho, ever the jokester, whispered,
"Zakes has got it bad!"
I playfully punched him. "Shut up." She overheard and chuckled. "I think it's cute."
My heart skipped a beat.
Little did I know, this chance encounter would change everything.
Determined to make a lasting impression, I decided to showcase my charm.
"Would you like to dance?" I asked, extending my hand.
She smiled, and my heart skipped two beats. "I'd love to."
As we swayed to the music, I attempted to impress her with my best moves. Unfortunately, my coordination had other plans. I stumbled, stepped on her toes, and nearly face-planted into the cake.
She giggled, her eyes sparkling.
"You're... quite the dancer."
I grinned, feeling embarrassed. "I'm just getting started."
Sipho "DJ Sphola" as we call him ,switched to a faster tempo, trying to interrupt my mission and I seized the opportunity.
I busted out my best (worst?) moves – the robot, the sprinkler, and the flailing octopus.
She laughed uncontrollably, tears streaming down her face.
Sipho, watching from the sidelines, chuckled. "Zakes has lost it." But she wasn't laughing at me; she was laughing with me.
As the music slowed, I pulled her close. "Sorry about the clumsy
dance."
She smiled, her voice barely above a whisper. "I loved it. You're adorable." Adorable? Me? Zakes Mazet wa dipikara, the clumsy event planner?
I beamed with pride.
For the rest of the evening, we laughed, joked, and shared stories.
As the night drew to a close, I walked her to her car.
"Thanks for the best evening ever," she said, smiling.
I grinned. "I'm just getting started." And with that, I tripped on the curb.
She giggled, shaking her head. "You're something else."
I watched her drive away, feeling elated.
Who knew being a clown would win her heart?
I watched her drive away, feeling elated but also panicked. I didn't get her number.
"How could I be so stupid?" I muttered to myself.
Sipho chuckled. "You were too busy being adorable."
I glared at him. "Not helpful."
Determined to find her, I scoured the wedding guest list, but she wasn't listed.
I asked the wedding party , but no one knew her contact information.
Desperate, I turned to social media, scrolling through wedding guest photos.
Finally, I spotted her – smiling, radiant, and tagged.
@Beauty_Nyx
I clicked on her profile, my heart racing.
Private account.
I sent a request, hoping she'd accept.
Days passed, and I heard nothing.
Had I missed my chance?
Sipho encouraged me. "Don't give
up, Zakes. She laughed at your antics. That's a good sign."
I nodded, determination renewed.
I would find a way to reconnect with @Beauty_Nyx.
Little did I know, our story was just beginning..
The Digital Pursuit
She finally accepted my request, and determined to grab Nyx's attention, I crafted a witty DM:
"Hey @Beauty-Nyx, the wedding clown here. Lost my heart (and almost face-planted into the cake) when we danced. Would love to relive that magic."
I waited anxiously for a response.
Nothing.
Undeterred, I tried again:
"Nyx, did you know that studies show dancing with a clumsy partner increases laughter and joy? Let's test that theory."
Still, nothing.
Sipho chuckled. "Maybe she's just playing hard to get."
I refused to give up.
Next, I posted a series of ridiculous dance challenge videos, tagging @Beauty_Nyx:
"Challenge 1: The Robot Fail"
"Challenge 2: Sprinkler Showdown" "Challenge 3: Flailing Octopus"
To my surprise, Nyx commented on the last video:
"You win the prize for most creative dance disasters"
I beamed with pride.
"Thanks, @Beauty_Nyx! Would love to show you more moves in person." This time, she responded via DM:
" Ziba park tomorrow at 4 PM it's a date fetch me. Come prepared to dance (or the date is off)
''i don't have a car " I said .
"will BOLT ,or taxis?" I asked, feeling small.
"Worry not ,Send me your location" She exclaimed, giving me a sense of relief.
Yes!
The Stunning Arrival
The next morning I sent her my location at 8 AM ,and don't ask me why.
I then waited outside on my landlord's garden, fidgeting with excitement from 2 pm .
I was like a recycled teenager going to a school trip.
even changed my outfit three times .
4:15 exactly Nyx pulled up in her sleek, silver sedan, smiling brightly.
My landlord, Mr. Mkhize, stood nearby, eyes wide with wonder.
"Zakes, who's this?" he whispered, stunned.
I grinned. "My friend, Nyx."
The neighbors peeked out their windows, curious.
Mrs. Ngcobo whispered to her son Tom , "Who's that beautiful woman with Zakes?"
Tom rubbed his eyes, "Am I
dreaming?
As She glided out of the car like a swan on a serene lake, peaceful and refined .
Her curves hugged the fabric, accentuating her Voluptuous figure, sculpted like a goddess.
The neighbors gasped, mesmerized.
My landlord Mr Mkhize's jaw dropped. "Zakes, you're... upgrading, boy!" jealousy stricken,he exclaimed.
I chuckled, shaking my head.
Nyx laughed, her voice melodic. "Hi, everyone."
The neighbors waved, smiling.
Mr Mkhize just cleared his thought ,no response .
it was like his voice left him for a minute .
Nyx ,handed me her car keys ,held my hand ,leading me to her cocoon of comfort ,wrapped in luxury .
Only then did Mr Mkhize utter a word "Be soft on that machine boy"
for the first time I understood his prior silence .
Not on any normal day you would see a combination of the beauty and the beast .
live,
in the township,
that revelation needed to be televised, it surely did.
As we drove away, everything on the street stood still.
Thabo from the kota shop couldn't believe his eyes.
Tshepiso's mouth was wide open, His eyes glued to the machine of mass admiration,
And,amid all the strange stares the street soccer playing boys gave us ,I
felt like I was starring in a
Hollywood movie ,for a while.
That was me,Zakes , operating a tech-infused tranquility,at my finger tips .
I even used an indicator to avoid the little stone on the road.
Oh!, what a day to be alive.
As we cruised slowly on the potholed Thema Road , I couldn't help but steal glances at Nyx.
Her beauty mesmerized me:
-Her full lips, curled into a perpetual smile
- Her almond-shaped eyes, shininglike polished onyx
- Her elegance, captivating everyglance
"Nyx, you're breathtaking," I whispered.
She smiled, her cheeks flushing. "Thanks, Zakes."
We cruised through the streets, the wind whipping through our hair.
Yes! , electric windowns ,wide open.
Our laughter and conversation flowed effortlessly.
As we strolled through the township, Nyx's hand brushed mine.
Electricity sparked.
Our connection deepened.
We parked near Ziba Park, its lush greenery inviting.
The moment
As we strolled hand-in-hand, Nyx's beauty shone amidst nature's splendor.
Her laughter echoed through the park, drawing admiring glances.
I grinned, feeling proud to be with her.
I wished Thando was around to witness this Snapshot of serenity.
She once embarrassed me during the people ,saying that "even a
monkey will rather befriend a snake than dating me".
We walked past the playground, where children's giggles filled the air Nyx smiled, watching them play. "I love kids' energy."
I nodded, sharing her enthusiasm.
"They remind us to live in the moment."
the only thought that came I'm my mind was "I wish to have some with
you ".but the little voice in me was
like ; "Don't let that out, fool!!!".
We continued along the winding path, surrounded by vibrant flowers.
Nyx's eyes sparkled, admiring the blooms. "Ziba Park is lovely."
I agreed, captivated by her, not just the scenery.
As we sat on a bench, Nyx leaned against me.
Our connection deepened, the world around us fading.
Suddenly, a group of playful kids chased each other, racing past us.
Nyx laughed, her eyes shining. "Joy is contagious."
I wrapped my arm around her, feeling grateful.
In that moment, Ziba Park became our own little paradise.
As we chilled, embracing the shadows of the umbrella designed trees at Ziba Park, Nyx's eyes sparkled with creativity.
"Zakes, I need to capture this moment," she said, pulling out her camera.
Her passion for photography was infectious.
I watched, fascinated, as she framed shots, snapping photos of:
- Vibrant flowers swaying in thebreeze
- Children's laughter-filled faces
- Sunlight filtering through leafy trees
"Nyx, your talent is stunning," I said, admiring her work.
She smiled, eyes shining. "Thanks, Zakes. Photography helps me see beauty everywhere."
I nodded, captivated by her perspective.
As she photographed me, I felt at ease, her calm demeanor soothing.
"Say cheese," she teased, snapping a shot.
I laughed, feeling carefree.
Our photo session became a playful dance, twirling and laughing together.
Nyx's camera captured our joy, freezing moments in time.
As the sun began to set, Nyx's eyes sparkled.
"Let's capture the golden hour,"
she whispered.
We found a picturesque spot, and Nyx snapped away.
Each click of the shutter felt like a heartbeat, our connection growing.
"it feels great to have you around Nyx." I said ,starring traight into her electrified eyes.
She smiled ,Covered my hand with her tiny soft hands igniting warmth and comfort "I must confess,I love
being around Zakes."She said ,
sinking deep into my my eyes as if she was observing something .this time ,her eyes like sapphires
shinning bright, Closer she came , her head changed position, her soft hand slowly reaching for my face ,
I got stuck ,frozen , half dead ,in disbelief,
As her lips brushed against mine,
Time suspended its relentless pace, The world's din faded into silence, Leaving only the gentle touch.
Her eyes slowly closed, demonstrating the depths of her desire,
Softly, she surrendered to the kiss, As our hearts beat in tender fire.
The whisper of her breath on my skin,
Sent shivers down my eager spine, Electric sparks danced, souls entwined,
In that fleeting, forever moment.
Lips parted, tongues touched, and time,
Stood still, as our love's flame ignited,
Passion's ember, kindled and bright, In that first kiss, our hearts united.
Forever sealed, that tender kiss,
A promise of love's sweet caress,
In her eyes, my soul found home,
In her lips, my heart's forever roam."
In that moment ,I knew I wanted to be her forever subject ,
Her ride or die,
Her Thabo Bester,My Doctor, Basking in her angelic light .
If you can hear me now ,the one
who said ;"the beautiful ones are not yet born," Shame on you.
