In the land of Ormenia, where magic exists, there are houses that can move around, fairies that are friends with humans, and wizards who are the strongest. There are live twins named Isla and Glyden. They are 16 years old and both work as maids for the Arghundi aristocratic family.
They were not treated well but not poorly either. As they grew up, they didn't know who or where their parents were, but one thing was certain: they were abandoned outside the gate of the Arghundi family.
In their world, all people receive a blessing of magic when they turn 17, and their magic depends on the tribe to which they belong. There are three groups of magic in their world. The first is the magic to make nature exist in every corner of the world, called Elfhane, or the tribe of fairyland. The second is the magic to change the weather, called Acalica, or weather fairies. Lastly, there are the wizards, the most powerful in the land, who can stop time and foresee the future.
Isla and Glyden do not agree on many things, and neither can be precisely categorized as good or bad. They do share one similarity: their desire to receive magic on their own. They often argue, especially when Glyden is lazing around. However, they still get along in the end because they only have each other and do not want to be separated.
When they turned 17, Isla was the first to receive magic. She received the blessing of the Acalica fairies and started flying around, feeling very happy. Glyden, however, felt despair, thinking he wouldn't receive any magic. Isla comforted him.
Isla: "It is okay, maybe it just needs a little more time. Don't lose hope."
Glyden: "But why haven't I received any magic yet? Is it because I'm lazy? *sobbing*"
Isla: "No, it's not because of that. Don't cry. It's because you're special. Your magic is still charging in your body because you're more powerful than me. That's why it's taking longer to appear."
Glyden: "Okay, I hope it's true that I'm just special and that's why it's late."
Isla: "Of course it's true. Why would I lie to you? I am your sister." *hugs him*
Days passed, and Glyden's magic finally appeared. He was blessed by the Elfhame fairies. He was very happy but also confused because he also received the magic to stop time. He hesitated to tell Isla, fearing she might think he's abnormal, but he didn't want to keep secrets from her.
Glyden: "Sis, I got my magic now. I received it this morning while walking. I just felt like I was getting stronger."
Isla: "Oh, congrats! I told you that you would receive it one of these days."
Glyden: "Yeah, but hey, I know it looks weird, but I also received the magic of the wizard. I can stop time too."
Isla: "Oh, really? That's amazing! You get to have two kinds of magic at once. But I'm telling you, Glyden, you must keep this a secret between just the two of us, okay? Otherwise, they will separate us because you're special."
Glyden: "Okay, I will do as you said, and I promise you that."
Isla: "Okay then, I am so proud of you. Remember that."
One day, while they were cleaning, Isla accidentally broke an expensive plate out of exhaustion and hunger, and their madam scolded her for it.
Madam: "Why did you break it? Do you know how expensive it is? Even if you exchanged your body and your magic, you wouldn't be able to pay for it." *slaps her*
They could exchange their magic for gold and money depending on which family they belonged to, but because they were adopted, the magic shops wouldn't let them sell their magic.
Isla: "I'm sorry, madam. I'm very sorry. I was just very hungry, and my body gave out. I accidentally lost my grasp on it."
Madam: "You're an ungrateful little child! After all I've done for both of you, this is how you repay me?" *slaps and kicks her to the floor*
Glyden was watching his sister crawl on the floor, miserably hit by the madam. Out of anger, he shouted, and time stopped. Everything around them froze. He grabbed his sister, and they ran out of the mansion. However, because it was the first time he used his power, he didn't know how to undo it, and they started to panic.
Glyden: "What do we do now? I can't undo it!"
Isla: "Why not?" *panting*
Glyden: "It was so sudden, and I just lost control of it." *still panicking*
Isla: "Well, the important thing is we got out of there. Thank you for saving me, Gly."
Glyden: "Of course, I would do that a million times. You're my sister, and you're the only one I have."
*They hugged each other.*
They stopped hugging when they suddenly heard a man's voice behind them. It turned out to be the great wizard, Darque.
Darque: "Finally, I found you both, my long-lost grandchildren."
They stopped hugging when they suddenly heard a man's voice behind them. It turned out to be the great wizard, Darque.
Darque: "Finally, I found you both, my long-lost grandchildren."
They were too stunned to speak and just looked at each other, full of curiosity.
Darque began explaining that they had a mother named Giselle, who was a wizard. Shockingly, they had different fathers. Their mother was romantically in love with Archer, one of the Elfhame fairies. However, Darque opposed the relationship because Archer's family had a cruel background, mercilessly killing their own tribe members if they made mistakes. To prevent this union, Darque married Giselle to an Acalica fairy named Satyr, who was a very good man with a gentle heart. But Giselle didn't love Satyr. She locked herself in her room, thinking life was unfair. The next thing she knew, she was pregnant with twins but didn't know who the father was. One thing was certain: she didn't want her children to grow up fighting for the position of the next Grand Wizard because Darque was failing and needed a successor.
Giselle took advantage of the fact that Darque could no longer use the magic of foreseeing the future due to his weak body. She hid her pregnancy and ran away from home, giving birth to the twins in a cave alone. Neither father knew Giselle was pregnant. As a wizard, Giselle cast a spell on the twins so they would never be found by the Great Wizard until they reached adulthood, at which point they could decide their own fate. She left the twins outside the gate of the Arghundi family, thinking they would be well taken care of since they were part of the same tribe as the Elfhame fairies.
Giselle lost a lot of blood and was found outside the wizard mansion, where she died. Darque was devastated and felt angry with himself for how he had treated his only daughter. His body weakened, and he fainted from the stress and grief.
During the burial of Giselle, they discovered that she had given birth before she died but did not know she had twins or who the father was. Darque ordered two fairies to find Giselle's child, but sadly, they couldn't find them and started losing hope. When Glyden used his magic to stop time, Darque found them. He was shocked to see that they were twins but now understood why Giselle had kept it a secret from him.
Darque: "You both look beautiful, just like your mother. Now that I've found you, let's go to our home. Your fathers have been waiting for both of you."
Without hesitation, they went with him. Darque unstopped time, and they reunited with their fathers. Glyden was chosen to be the next Great Wizard, while Isla watched, feeling proud that she had such an amazing brother.THE END!
