Viren and His mom Vinaya were sitting at the table. Vinaya was deeply engrossed in her tablet. Viren was so caught in his thinking.
He turned to Vihan and asked, "Mamma, what is wrong with buying a meal or a dress for your wife?"
Vinaya smiled and replied: No. Nothing wrong with that.
Viren: I am trying to connect to my wife. I would love to do things for her. But she treats me as her colleague with whom we share the bill. Not an ordinary colleague the miser one who even snatches 0.50 paise.
Vinaya laughs and replies: Viren, this phase of whining suits you the best. Does she treat you specifically in such a way? As per my observing skills, she has been doing this with everyone even her parents. I noticed this in the first week of your marriage when her dad came to visit her. She handed over the cheque for your wedding expense to her father. Her father denied but she convinced him to keep it.
Viren: Really. It's a nice thing. She doesn’t want her parent's money. But I am her husband. I don’t want to hurt her self-esteem but at the same time, I would love to do things for her.
Vinaya: Viren there you went wrong? Even Sanju your brother's girlfriend told me the same thing about your wife Ashu?
Viren: What? How did she know about Ashu?
Vinaya: She(Sanju) heard her(Ashu) speaking with her friend Ruchs that she(Ashu) fears getting married if her husband blames her for eating food or buying expensive things that she likes. She (Ashu) even feared if her husband called her a gold digger and felt like a burden as her father always felt. Sanju just discussed this thing casually with me regarding fear of marriage but was shocked when she saw Ashu with you. I also then kept quiet.
Viren: I never knew it, mamma. I mean I never thought that way. I mean she fears I would complain about what I will do for her. Am I so cheap?
Vinaya: This is why Viren. You are victimizing yourself. That is why she was not able to open up. She fears this attitude of people due to which she always felt like an abuser. Maybe no one tried to speak with her. She doesn’t know you and you never tried to communicate with her boasting about your busy business.
Viren: I thought she always is happy, and content. She behaves very maturely. Never overreacts. She is very chirpy and enthusiastic. I never knew she had such thoughts behind her loud laughter.
Vinaya: They are her unsaid thoughts. She may share those thoughts with her female friends. She may fear that asking favor or taking help from anyone would portray her as an exploiter. Viren: How did you know such things?
Vinaya: Because I am a woman and I know what women deals in every home at the age of marriage. Her own house and people start behaving as strangers or an overstaying guest whose departure has not been finalized. This phase is the most heartwrenching for every women. May be scientifically it a reflex mechanism to detach from your past? But that process hurt her mentally and there where she need you as husband to make her feel she is not burden but a gift.
Viren: Mamma what will I had did if you were not my mother.
Vinaya: Stop your drama and go to your flat. I want to prepare your Dad's favourite chicken Tikka masala. They both laugh and Viren leave to his flat in fourth floor.
Viren: These are thoughts you are hiding behind your retreat my wifey.
Vinaya meanwhile smiles: Mr Husband ur son also needed a schooling but i was lucky i got gentleman.
