The day Aisha swore to turn her life around was the day she stood with her certificate in her hands. She had just finished college but did not finish well. This left a well distraught graduate with a lot of baggage. Boys were the main reason why she graduated with just a pass mark. She had a lot of guys she tended to in exchange for a financial reward. Despite her lifestyle Aisha still owed a lot of debt. She was neck foot deep in debt and it was a huge burden on the poor graduate. Her father Alhaji was a business man who did his very best to send Aisha to school despite his very large family. He gave Aisha a good amount of money every month but it was never enough and Aisha couldn't be bothered to ask home for more money. Aisha is the eldest of eleven children which means she was the first child to see the four walls of the university. She also had a huge pressure to be good examples to her siblings so it was a huge relief when she didn't drop out of school or get pregnant irrespective of her shady lifestyle.
Aisha began by deleting the contact of every guy who called upon her. She made sure to delete all their numbers and block them ensuring that there was no link or communication between these guys. She deleted all their numbers except two. Her boyfriend who she loved so much and her sponsor who she despised. These two were all she needed to be good or so she thought. Muhammad was aisha sponsor who she despised. She hated him so much because of his unsolicited advice every hour and minute of the day. He made it his sole responsibility to advise her against following yahoo boys because yahoo boys kill beautiful girls after sleeping with them and spending money on them. She hated how he always warned her of yahoo boys because she was careful enough to exclude yahoo boys from her dealings with men but Muhammad who was a hardworking freelancer always advised her and she had no choice but to put up with this.
Aisha graduated school with a 450k debt to pay and she felt that Muhammad was her ticket to offsetting this loan. This debt was the sole reason she refused to delete his number or block him like the rest of the guys even when she hated him and wanted nothing to do with this guy. Muhammad had never given Aisha such a huge amount before but she has a big event coming up. Her convocation was just around the corner and this was a perfect opportunity to collect enough money from her sponsor.
On a faithful day, when Aisha had just recovered from a very serious illness, arrangement were made between Aisha and her sponsor Muhammad to meet in the hotel. She summoned all her energy to ensure she see this guy and to her everything went well. She returned home smiling and waiting for the alert to drop on her phone but she got a text message from him instead.
"Do you know what we have been doing since all these days? It's friends with benefit. And I don't spend more than I can afford on a hook up girl. It's even cheaper if I get a hook up girl to satisfy me than calling on you. You're just with me for my money!"
Aisha was dumbfounded. Muhammad had ever spoken to her in this manner before. Is it because she's asking for half a million or what? She texted back asking to know the problem that was when he opened up. He said he didn't enjoy their night together. That he literally begged her to take her shower. He complained that she doesn't show any manner of affection towards him or even initiate any thing.
She couldn't reply but she was heart broken. "You should have said something...." She started to type with shaky hands. "......I would have done better. Have you not been enjoying it before?".
"I have never enjoyed it" he spat back
"Then why have you been sending me those money? Did I ever ask you for it" she texted, her anger rising.
"I would never give you money if I did not feel like you deserve it but I'm not giving you anything this time around. I'm tired of feeling like I have to beg you for a good time Everytime".
That was when the realization dawned on her that it was over. She couldn't twist this to favour her. Infact she has been pushing her luck and this was long overdue. She has always thought she was lucky receiving 50k sometimes a hundred from this guy for doing nothing and you cannot blame her. There was no sort of connection between them. The only relationship that existed between them was a sort of mentee and mentor relationship and all he did was to advise her and tell her about fraud stars and ritualists. People who wouldn't think twice to slaughter one they said they love.
In the midst of these turmoil her boyfriend broke up with her as well. These were the two people in the whole world she'd bank her hope on for survival and her hope came crashing on her. All that was left now was regret and the harsh reality that no one was coming to save her. She's all on her own now. No lover, no sponsor, nobody to help her pay off her debts which was already mounting immerse pressure on her and the one who loved her had just dumped her. He said he was done being treated like an option in the relationship. Her eyes were open to the fact that she needs to actually work hard to pay her way through life and that men were the most unreliable source of hope you can imagine. She wiped her tears and started to find a job. That was infact the real time her life began to change for the better. When she decided to work hard to make ends meet instead of preying on guys who she doesn't love for their hard earned money.
