This story is about a beautiful, green village where a young boy named Hari lived. He didn't have a family of his own, but to him, every person in that village was family. No matter what task the villagers gave him, he would do it happily - without any resistance, anger, or complaint, always with a cheerful face.
Hari had taken up a special job on his own - every day, he would gather all the cows and goats in the village and take them to the nearby hills for grazing. In the evening, he would bring them back safely.
One day, as usual, Hari led the animals to the hills. The hill was breathtakingly beautiful - lush greenery everywhere, colorful blooming flowers, butterflies fluttering, and birds chirping sweetly. As Hari enjoyed nature's wonders, he danced joyfully, sang, and played his flute while climbing the hill. The cows and goats followed him merrily.
That day, Hari had a good meal and, feeling unusually tired, lay under a tree and fell into a deep sleep. By the time he woke up, it was almost evening, and dark clouds had started to gather in the sky. Afraid that it might rain, Hari quickly began to call the animals back using his flute.
Most of them came back running, except one goat, which was nowhere to be found. He called out, searched everywhere, but couldn't find it. Soon, it began to rain heavily. Soaked and scared, Hari stayed back in the hills with the animals, who had taken shelter inside a nearby cave.
Meanwhile, in the village, the people were worried. Hari hadn't returned, and it was raining heavily. They hoped he would come back the next day. But even the next day, Hari didn't return. Two days passed. During that time, the villagers started arguing and getting angry over small things.
Noticing this change, the village chief grew suspicious. He felt something was wrong and called ten men, asking them to go to the hill and find out what happened to Hari and the animals.
When they reached the hill, they found Hari sitting under a tree, crying. They asked him what had happened. Hari said with deep sadness,
"It rained so heavily, and I lost one goat. I didn't want to return without it, so I kept looking for it. But the rain kept pouring, and I couldn't continue my search properly."
Hearing this, the men comforted him,
"Don't worry. We're here now. We'll find the goat together."
All ten of them searched in different directions. Finally, they found the goat stuck in a bush, freed it, and brought all the animals and Hari back to the village.
As soon as they returned, the villagers surrounded Hari with care and concern:
"Hey Hari, where were you these past two days? You look so tired and dull. Did you eat? You're soaked from the rain. Here, change your clothes and eat something!"
Everyone showered him with affection.
Watching all this, the village chief was confused.
"What's going on here? I thought you were all upset and fighting because of the missing goats and cows. But now, you're all just worried about Hari?"
The villagers responded,
"We didn't fight because of the animals? but now that you say it, we can't even remember why we were angry or upset!"
They had all completely forgotten their reasons for arguing and had united again, just like before.
The chief was puzzled until an elderly villager explained:
"The happiness of this village lies in Hari's smile. Every day begins with his cheerful face and sweet words. In the last few days, without him, the villagers felt a deep emptiness. Without realizing it, their sorrow turned into irritation and anger."
Everyone then understood how deeply connected Hari was to the heart of the village.
His smile and kind words were the invisible thread that kept the entire village together. In just two days of his absence, they felt lost and began showing frustration without knowing why. Now they knew - Hari wasn't just a boy; he was the joy of their village.
Moral of the Story:
Just like a contagious virus can spread illness, a smile can spread happiness. When we smile and speak kindly, the people around us feel good, and that positive energy keeps going like a chain reaction. Hari and his village are beautiful examples of this truth.
So, kids - always keep smiling, and make the world around you brighter!
