Season 1 :
Episode 1 Being Normal
He woke up to the sound of his alarm blaring in his ear. He lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind already racing with thoughts of mathematics and physics. The morning light crept into the room, casting a pale glow on his face.
As he got out of bed, his movements were slow and deliberate. He walked to the bathroom, his eyes fixed on the mirror. He stared at his reflection, his gaze detached.
His parents were waiting for him in the kitchen, their expressions stern. "We need to talk about your education," his mom said, her voice firm but laced with concern.
His response was monosyllabic, his tone flat. "What about it?"
"We've enrolled you in college," his dad said, his voice firm. "You'll start today."
His gaze snapped to his parents, his expression unreadable. "You did what?" he asked, his tone flat.
The conversation that followed was tense, with his parents trying to convince him that college was the right path for him. He listened, his expression impassive, his mind wandering to the complexities of quantum mechanics.
As the conversation ended, his parents handed him a folder filled with information about the college. He took it, his eyes scanning the pages with a mixture of disinterest and curiosity.
A while later, his dad pulled up to the college entrance in their worn-out sedan, the engine sputtering to a stop. The sound of gravel crunching beneath the tires seemed to echo through the air as he gazed out the window, his expression unreadable.
"Hey, kiddo, it's gonna be fun," his dad said, trying to sound enthusiastic. "You'll make new friends, learn new things. Maybe this is your chance to be normal, you know? Crash into the real world and see what sticks."
His gaze didn't waver, his eyes fixed on some distant point beyond the college buildings. "I doubt it," he said flatly.
His dad chuckled. "You never know. You might surprise yourself. Just keep an open mind, okay?"
As they sat there for a moment, his dad broke the silence. "You know, I really think this could be a great opportunity for you. You'll learn to navigate the world in a way that works for you."
He shrugged, his shoulders barely rising off the seat. His dad smiled and said, "I'll be here to pick you up after classes. Enjoy your time, kiddo."
He stepped out of the vehicle, the warm sunlight catching him off guard. As he stood on the pavement, he turned back to his dad and said, "Time is a mindless bastard that reminds us we're nothing compared to infinity."
His dad's smile faltered for a moment before he recovered. "Well, just focus on the present, okay? You got this."
He nodded, his gaze drifting off into the distance before he turned and walked towards the college entrance. As he disappeared into the crowd, his dad called out one last time, "Enjoy your time!"
He didn't look back, his figure receding into the distance as he walked away from the car.
