My mother was standing right infront of me; asking me about the neighbour's daughter. I tried to deny everything, but it was crystal clear that I was madly in love with her.

"She is our neighbour for goodness sake!" She exclaimed. I wish to ask her, "so what mom?" But I held my tongue tight. Trying to be as respectiful as I can.

That night; I had to sleep without eating anything. If that was supposed to be a punishment; well, it didn't work. Because I was not hungry at all. I was fulfilled in an u-imaginable way. Her smile, her voice, everything about her made me feel like I own my own cattle! We've created our own world, together we could conquer the world. I promised myself that I would block all the noise about our forbidden love and as long as we are together, everything else does not matter.

But the question is...was I ready to leave home? to leave everything behind and take her with me, to have our new beginning? Her father hated my guts, and he wouldn't give me blessings to get married to my high school sweetheart, anyway. So; we decided to elope. And leave our bad parents behind.

My bags were already packed, when the love of my love called me on the phone, crying un-controllable from the other side. I had to rush to her place, only to find her father laying helplessly on the ground. "Lindy, What did you do?!" I screamed at her. "I don't know what to do? I found him like this!" I think he tried to take his life. "But why?! Hurry! We don't have time. We need to call an ambulance." I panicked. "It's too late Mitch. He's gone!" She cried again.

"I told him last night that I will go away with you. He didn't approve after begging him continuously. He wrote this letter. Read it, but I have to warn you. You will never look me the same way after reading it."

And she was right. I never knew that mom and my neighbour had hidden a huge secret from us for all these years. I never imagined that the woman I loved my whole life is actually my half sister. Mom should have told me that my father is a neighbour. I wasn't gonna be embarrassed. Now I'm so hurt, I can't believe that my cattle has fallen. My whole world turned upside down.

"Do you still love me?" I asked her. "Yes, but as my brother ofcourse." She weeped.

The only thing I have learnt in this lifetime is that, history can repeat itself. My mom and dad were miserable neighbours, because their love was forbidden. Now Lindy and I are not so happy with our present partners. Because our past is holding us back.

With that being said, I know we are no longer together. But the blood that we share; will never break the bond that we have.
