Wake up son. A soft angelic voice calls to me urging me to wake up. A voice that seems so unfamiliar yet also familiar at the same time. As soon as I open my eyes I find the origin of the voice. My mother. At first I hardly recognised her. She was a beautiful woman with black silky hair. Her skin is so soft and full of color. Any stranger would believe she was my sister for she looked so young. “Son, breakfast is ready, hurry so you can eat with the rest of the family.” She said as she exited the room. As I got up I looked around the room. A room that seemed so different. I thought maybe it was because I was still a little tired so I ignored it.

As I left my room I saw a young girl exit the bathroom. She was short with blue pajamas on. She looked no more than 6. Her hair was black and placed in a bond. She was so adorable. So much so that I couldn’t help but stare. She closed the door and turned toward me. “Big Brother '' she said, running towards me. Her voice was so high pitched and soothing. When she reached me she hugged me well, hugged my legs at least. Involuntarily I hugged her back. Again the feeling of unfamiliarity filled me. I’m probably just tired. I thought again. My sister let me go and ran downstairs. I went to the bathroom and headed down minutes after.

As I walked down I saw a tall man. He was fairly muscular with a neat beard and mustache. His hair was groomed unbelievably perfect for a person just waking up. In his hand was a mug full of freshly brewed coffee. He turned around and noticed my staring. He looked at me and said “son what's wrong you look like you seen a stranger. It was true at 1st glance I didn’t recognise him. That same feeling I felt with my mother and sister lingered around me. Again I thought nothing of it and told my father everything was fine. He said “Great son, well let's not keep your mother and sister waiting.”

We both headed for the kitchen where my mother and sister both sat over a breakfast that looked like it was made for a king. My father and I sat down at the two other available seats. “Glad of you two to make it,'' my mother said jokingly. “I thought you got lost “My father chuckled at my  mother. ``If I did, I would use my nose to find my way to this delicious breakfast made by my beautiful wife.” After my parents went back and forth we finally prayed over the food and ate.

We sat together as a family making jokes laughing and smiling. I thought to myself what a lucky person I am to have woken up to a family like this. All of a sudden I felt a chill down my spine. The world around me seemed to fade.

My vision grew blurry as my family drifted out of view. Darkness surrounded me. All of a sudden a door swung open and I heard a deep voice screaming “You worthless woman!” My eyes shot open. It was a dream, I thought. A woman ran through the door. Her hair was frail and unkempt. Her eyes were full of bags and her left eye was blackened. Tears ran down her face. With close inspection I realized the woman was my mother. The voice that yelled was my father. Another person ran to my room as my fathers voice rang through the hall. “Get out of here child you look just like that woman!” My little sister ran down the hall toward my room, her hair thin and her pajamas pale and torn. I then thought back to the people in the dream. I finally realized why everything seemed unfamiliar. It was because there was love in my dream. There was happiness I thought. “How unlucky am I to wake up to a nightmare like this” I said with tears in my eyes.
