A raven perched on the edge of the glass building peering in. Down below a vast array of people danced to the orchestra playing in the background. Each swaying in time to the melody of the music. All the violinists played fiercely until their bows began to fray. One by one the string of the bows snapped. Soon silence encased the dance floor, causing everyone to go deathly still. No one dared move, not even to blink.
Years began passing, ivy and vines started reaching up to the waist of the dancers. The dance floor was cloaked by a blanket of darkness. The glass building that once
looked inviting and welcoming, now looked forsaken.
Decades later a young boy, no more than 8 years old, adventures to the glass building. Curious of the statues kept inside, he had heard the stories that had circulated about the mystery of the building. But he was starved for the truth. Cautiously, he slips in through the cracked door, deliberately avoiding the broken glass covering the floor. Stealthily making his way across the room towards the dance floor.
As he reached the first statue, it was one of a woman dressed in an elegant gown embedded with jewels and lined with silk. He could not help but be captivated by the amount of detail the statue possessed, the expression of the statue intrigued him. It was one of agony and longing. He was astonished that such works of art were being wasted away.
Stretching out to touch the woman, he began stroking her dress. Only to discover that it was not hard as he had expected but instead sleek. Engrossed with the dress, the boy did not notice the shift in the statues around him.
Progressively they began moving until their entire body was moving to a beat only, they could hear. The boy was flabbergasted, he could only stand and watch with his jaw hitting the floor as the people he once thought to be statues twirled around the room in an impressive amount of grace and dignity. A smile soon started to break out across the boy's face. He too began dancing along with the statues.
Enjoying the happiness, the dancers radiated. Caught up in the pleasure of the atmosphere. He did not detect the statues all simultaneously turned to him as he had begun humming and singing. It was not until one of them grabbed hold of his arm, in a punishing way, for him to notice that the cheerful atmosphere had evaporated and left behind was one of solemnity. He was enclosed in a circle of dancers, all of them possessing an expression of fury. Hatred only known to those who have wronged. The smile quickly vanished from the boy's face along with the color.
The grip on the boy's arm rapidly started turning harsher causing the skin around the fingers to change to white and surely leave behind indentations. The boy began desperately trying to pull his arm free, but to no avail. Minutes pass and the boy shatters, collapsing into a crying heap. The noise triggers the dancers into action. Pushing them forward.
The boy was seized by hundreds of hands at once. No matter the fight the boy put up, there was no escaping. Brutal hits and kicks began raining down on the boy until he was a bloody mess. His voice gave way from all the screams getting ripped from his throat. One statue came forth with a shard of glass, and began decorating the boy's body in gashes. The screams that followed rang out, shaking the glass panels of the windows. The boy's voice could not endure the harsh screech and began to fade. Immediately after the silence once again spread through the building all the dancers stilled. The boy was dropped and forgotten as all the dancers retreated into their state of serenity. Too frail to move, the boy laid there until the darkness took him.
The townspeople had heard the distant screams, panic broke out amongst them. Scavenging fiercely to grab everything they owned, within a quarter of an hour the town laid vacant. The only living being left was the young boy but he soon too left.
