A young woman from the poor Alpine village of Binn supports her family by working as a nude model for artists—an honest job she takes out of necessity. However, the society around her misunderstands her work and cruelly labels her as a prostitute. Despite her sacrifices, she is rejected by the man she loves and eventually even abandoned by her own sisters, whom she educated and supported. With only her sick mother left by her side, she is forced to leave her village behind. She retreats to a quiet riverside, reflecting on her life filled with love, loss, and misunderstanding. A deeply tragic story about dignity, sacrifice, and how society destroys a life by refusing to see the truth.
