“Year 1999 where I am standing beside a tree right at the foot of Big Ben, my lenses are watching the lights of the heavenly bodies while it devoured by the cumulus cloud approaching as the beat of my heart faded. One thing in my mind is the bittersweet love like the taste of a whiskey bottle. Wishing my love could accompany her, but we hold no time. Time is a thing that is inevitable that no man can ever have and change thus no power of man could ever control nor predict what lies beyond the stars “-Stefan.
The night is set, and every corner is filled with the aroma of a taste mind-blowing beverages that it feels like everyone has the same goal is to get drunk along with jazz music that occupies every inch in the pub.
“Taking shots of whiskey that drives me to escape from the harsh reality of life has offered”.
Stefan was a physically imposing person. He had strong features, like a strong jawline and angular cheekbones, that seemed rugged and masculine. His broad shoulders were tan and weathered from spending time outside. His piercing dark brown eyes seemed to stare right into your soul, and his well-groomed lips hinted at a sensual side.
When he walked, he moved with confidence, like he knew exactly where he was going and nothing could stop him. Mysterious and enthralling.
He drank himself till the last shot of the whiskey bottle and led his way out of the pub. He walks down the narrow street accompanied by the drunken moon of the night. Before the last lamppost through his home, his attention was snatched by a fancy unusual, strange cabin. Out of curiosity he goes straight towards the cabin and enters. What lies in his eyes is the treasures of the past which he ventures to every shelf are full of wonders. He thinks that he must be dreaming or hallucinating because he drinks a lot of whiskey. With all the marvelous treasures inside, still no such thing that could aid the faith he is into, severe coronary artery disease. Out of the blue, an old, rugged man approached him saying.
“What can I offer to a man who wishes something that neither I could not grant?”
“Then our acquaintance holds no purpose at all, and I shall take my leave,” Stefan replied.
Then Stefan led his way out of the cabin, but before he stepped to the last plank of the cabin the old man grasped his wrist drew out an old empty journal and gave it to Stefan.
“I may not give what you desire but take this with you as you leave,” the old man said.
Dew drops, birds are singing, bees are busy, and the entire creatures are awake as the cold breeze vanishes by the strike of rays of morning sunlight. So, Stefan, feeling the taste of a hangover, gets up from bed and eases the feeling with a hot cup of coffee. He reminisces about the strange happening last night after the pub while sipping coffee. So, he did not mind what happened last night because it might be unreal. As he went through his bed he saw a weird object under his blanket. He uncovered the blanket and found the old mysterious journal.
“So, it was real!” As he pinched himself.
He opened the journal and found nothing but an empty page. A sudden feeling drove him to hold the quill pen attached to the journal, so he searched for ink but found none in his home. As he dropped the quill above the journal the whole room suddenly sounded with deafening silence and all he could hear was a continuous drop of liquid into the ground. As Stefan searches for the sound, he discovers it is the quill dripping blood on the surface of the journal. So, it does he picks up the quill with butterflies in his stomach and unconsciously writes his name on the top corner of the journal’s very first page.
“Isabel Luche” was the name that suddenly appeared in the journal right after he wrote his name. He touched the name and tasted a nostalgic feeling that he never tasted ever since the day they both parted ways of the lass he used to called love and be loved. Upon stroking the printed name of Isabel, he felt the beat of a person’s heart thumbing right through his heart. A drop of tears fused with a spice of joy and surreal emotion which he likes to pursue.
“What do the stars hold that it lets two souls acquainted?”-Stefan.
“Maybe it writes what has been destined to be acquainted ever since.”-Isabel.
“Let be it and let shall serve what has written.”-Stefan.
“What written maybe ought to take its flight to the bizarre meeting.”-Isabel.
“Lovely to hear something about whom I dear to know, knowing whom I dear is what pleasure’s my interest.”-Stefan.
Flower that simple bloom, but not seasonal.
Happy and cheerful like sunny sunshine,
Patient, and virtuous as the moon.
This will be me, me this will be.
-Isabel
“The table is yours, it would be lovely to hear something from the man who dear us.”-Isabel
An ambitious man who dreams for more,
a man of perseverance and pride,
I got a lot, but humble thy self,
but,
got an ill faith,
no cure no healing at all,
need for one but time doesn’t permit,
no worries to in thy self,
for what awaits
is a tomorrow that does not exist at all.
Okay, would be a word that all I can tell,
nevertheless wish this can be cured even just by somebody.
The life of Stefan changed for a bit of time because of the sudden appearance of the girl, Isabel Luche in his life. Stefan felt uplifted, which made his day back on track to life. It is the feeling he always longed for many years of living. He never wondered that there would still be someone who would let him feel that kind of peculiar touch of his life. The conversation between the two through the journal led to build strong bond which sooner became much deeper than just acquaintance.
Stefan, “I would like to confess my feelings and declare my love to you my dear Isabel. Wishing it could not only reach into the pages of this journal but also reach the beating heart of yours which sooner after reading this, the reason of your heart bits would be I and mine would always, truly, honestly, deeply, passionately, wholeheartedly beats for you and only you.”
Stefan got no response from Isabel for a week, which made him think of lots of painful what-ifs and overthinking. He never wishes to feel such pain because of his attachment to Isabel. Sleepless nights he encounters and only drinking would least ease what has been troubling.
While lying beside his bed, a continuous beat of a heart sounded in the room. So, he immediately checked the journal for a new message from Isabel but found nothing. The moment he found nothing and was about to drop the journal, a blood-dripping sound suddenly tuned with the beating sound of a heart. Flipped once again.
I sincerely apologize for not trying to respond to your affection for me, but please be assured that I did not completely ignore it. I just need some time to think about it.
I do take what love you have on me,
I state this vow to love and be faithful is,
Let love be the language of our story.
-Isabel
Their love flourished as the days went by, discovered a lot about each side where no day passed of not having something to write about. Time flies with happy thoughts and quarrels but always end up comforting each other. But one question that struck them to wonder that after months of loving each other why never in their mind pass to see each other and meet. After a long journey of their written love, why do both never ask if they do want to be touched to know each texture, to be smelled to know how lovely their scent is, and to taste each other’s kisses and care.
My Isabel,
I would like to get to know you better and live my life spending time with you.
I want to grow old with your embrace.
Waste time with you like how a child plays with time.
Taste your cooking, bad or good.
Both surpass ups and downs.
Feel your lips touch mine, day and night.
Build our story even more.
Isabel, please do take my love even more.
Grant me to see you,
So, I may start my journey closer to you.
-Stefan
The love of my life, Stefan,
what you wish is what I long for.
Lingering my time with your love is what I wish. Feeling your touches of you is what I desire. Creating memories with you is what is worth living.
Tease me with affection and comfort me with your silliness.
Stefan,
I, Isabel, would take the love that has been offered.
Day of seven from now, meet me at the Big Ben foot, where the sun kisses the sea and the joy of bell sings,
as well us.
-Isabel
The young Stefan started his journey closer to the Clock Tower in London, England. He crossed three borders and the great Atlantic Ocean by a cargo ship even how frosting the journey was. On the sixth day before the big day of his life, he arrived in London and booked in St. Ermin's Hotel close to Big Ben.
“Isabel, I know you’re ready for our acquaintance, I just arrived in London, and I just want you to know that I am eagerly excited to see you and I can wait no time anymore. Hope you are too.” –Stefan.
“Stefan, the dream of life and the fallen star of my world know that I prepared myself for tomorrow and ready myself for the one of biggest days of my life. Can’t wait to start the day with you and counting, you’ll recognize me as I wear soft pastel pigmented cotton garment.” – Isabel.
The sun risen from east side of the world, the busy street started to awake where the Big Ben sings which occupied London. Stefan prepares his garments and gets his fresh haircut. Rounded the streets and establishments where he searched for flower shops.
“Hey mate, I am looking for a perfect flower for my Love because today is our first acquaintance. Maybe you could recommend something for me?” –Stefan
“Alright, why not choose a bunch of roses instead, pal.” – an old Florist.
Stefan replied, “I am looking for something new as good as roses.”
“Okay, I think you would like the fresh bloomed carnations of mine. Perfect because to tell you this, Carnation also signifies a deep kind of love and according to a Christian legend, carnations grew from the Virgin Mary's tears as she watched Jesus carry the cross. Great love right pal?” Florist said.
“That fancy to hear about, it’s like love and death. Okay, I take some of those,” Stefan replied.
The clock passed too fast; it is already 5:00 so he immediately walked to Big Ben. Upon arriving in the street of London’s Big Ben he encountered a live-bearing mother whose about to give birth but the closest hospital would take a bit of distance, so Stefan accompanied the mother to the Hospital. While taking a cab to reach the hospital the mother drops her purse which stitches with the word “Luche”. Stefan picked up the purse and read what had been stitched. The mother could not hold it anymore and delivered a baby girl having blue eyes and a birthmark shape like a star on her index finger.
“I am very thankful for your assistance’, such a great man, ‘Isabel Luche”, the mother said.
“Isabel, who?” Stefan replied while stuttering and got nervous.
The mother speaks brightly and gladly; “I name this child of mine as Isabel Luche, my sweet little munchkin.”
Stefan was surprised and could not believe “what ifs” rumbling inside his brain. The cab arrives at the hospital and nurses quickly assist the lady, and the child but before it leaves out of his eyes, he covers Isabel the baby with his cotton scarf and gives the bouquet of carnations to Mrs. Luche. Upon his way back to Big Ben she asked Isabel.
“Isabel love, out of my thinking I was just guessing if your eyes were like the sky’s color and a star-like was imprinted in one of your hands?”
Stefan asked while hoping for what he thinks is all incorrect. Isabel replied,
“I suppose not to tell you about those to not spoil our acquaintance. But to tell you this, your guesses are all correctly accurate which surprisingly to hear.”
“May I ask your current date and time,” Stefan.
“7: 31 pm of March 31, 2021, where the sun is setting to sleep perfectly and I am waiting for your arrival as Big Ben would sing sooner,” Isabel.
The world of Stefan turns upside-down on the things he knows shakes his body and falls on the ground as the place slowly covers with thick clouds where it is about to rain and starts writing once again.
Year 1999 when I was standing beside a tree right at the foot of Big Ben, my lenses were watching the lights of the heavenly bodies while devoured by the cumulus cloud approaching as the beat of my heart faded. One thing in my mind is the bittersweet love like the taste of a whiskey bottle. Wishing my love could accompany her, but we had no time. "Farewell, farewell, farewell, love."
The last words can be found on the previous page of the journal. He dropped the journal but still held the quill to cherish the remaining time to feel the heartbeats of each other. The rain started to fall heavily, and he walked close to the river Thames while feeling his aching heart and shortening of breath and drowned as Big Ben began to sing and synchronized with his beating heart. As the singing is about to fade, and his.
