It is a story of a boy named James Ceys who was a mere young child, who loves to daydream and draw what he visualizes in his mind, he draws nonstop until he satisfies himself to the extent of his abilities. And when the day came that he finishes his artworks, he was happy and would even smile, that makes him look as confident as he is, as he finishes a few touches.
He lifted himself from his desk to see widely what he drew in curiosity.
Afterwards, he says, "This isn't what I wanted at all!" James was completely dismayed of himself and of the image he drew. He became so frustrated of his work that it doesn't aligns the image he wanted to create. James ran out from his room and went to look for his dad. He went downstairs and arrived at the living room and saw his dad sitting and reading the newspaper in a big couch faced leftwards in front of the fireplace. He calls out, "Dad!" And his dad heard him and puts down the newspaper to the side table next to him. His Dad's name is John Ceys. James came forward to his dad with a gloomy expression and rushed to hug his dad. The dad says, "What is it, James?" James buries himself to his dad's belly as he hugs him a little tight and he didn't answer. John says, "Did something happened, son?" John lifted James gently while he lets out a tear from his eyes and lays James to sit on his thigh and waited for his son to calm down.
"My... Drawing is bad..." As James tries to tell something, he continued to sob and wipe the tears that flows down his cheeks. "Drawing?" John replied.
"What did you draw, James?" John asks with a gentle tone.
"The drawing... was supposed to be... a... sparrow returning... to its nest... But...".
"I see, can dad see your work?"
James paused in hesitation but nods his head as he covers his face with his dad's shoulder.
John carries his son and goes to James' room.
He saw the piece of drawing, with a messy bird that might've messed up with drawing the nest and the chicks that made it hard for John to see.
John contemplated and said, "My crybaby little man, --"
"I'm not a crybaby..."
John chuckled and continued.
"James, what do you want to be when you grow up?" James looked at his dad's face and replied, "I want to be an artist..." John smiles and tells his son, "I see, quite a dream you have there."
"But my classmates said that I'm weird for choosing to be an artist..."
"It will be an excuse if I said not to mind them, because such words can become quite unforgettable..." John says with a bittersweet smile as he recalls a memory from his childhood. John caresses Jame's hair and says, "But James, such words can become your strength in the future."
"Huh...?"
"Let me see... When I was a child, little kids my age made fun of me for dreaming to become a theater actor. I ignored their remarks and continued to pursue what I want, I spent countless of efforts even though I became a high school student, and the process was..." John halted with a deep thought in mind and continued his story.
"As I experienced those process... I remembered what those kids told me and slowly felt hopeless and hits rock bottom... At that time, my high school years is nearing its end and I decided to give my last effort and did an audition to a theater play... And guess what?"
"You... Didn't get accepted?"
"I got accepted. I didn't know why, but all I did was do my bestest right up until the end. My little James... Can you tell me what 'will' do you have in your dream?"
James seemed to have calmed down as John told his story and puts him down and gave him a serious yet gentle expression, which gave James an answer to his dad's question.
"I... Want to prove myself..."
