The Appearance

It was a bright, clear day in the small community of Workington. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the air was fresh and all was well with the world.

Within a split second, all this changed, as a big dark cloud appeared in the distance. It was not typical of your normal dark cloud, it was monstrous, and appeared to be pushing alarmingly ever closer toward the town.

People didn't know what to make of this as it all happened so quickly. Some thought it was a thunderstorm cloud, while others were convinced it was something more sinister.

As the cloud continued to darken and grow it became apparent it was neither of those things. It appeared to be engulfing everything in its path.

Something perilous.

The people of Workington were confused as to what this dark cloud was and were becoming increasingly concerned, not just because of its size but what it carried with it. All they could do at this point was to watch and wait as the cloud moved ever closer, fading out the sun. They had no weapons, guards, or thoughts about how to safeguard themselves.

As the cloud moved ever closer, something bizarre started to occur. Raindrops began tumbling from the sky, yet they weren't similar to any raindrops anybody had seen before. They were dark, and seemed to be alive. They appeared to be wriggling as they fell from the sky.

The people of Workington were hesitant and they didn't have any idea what these raindrops were or what they should do. Within minutes the downpour got heavier and more intense and people began to get frantic and panic. They needed to figure out what was happening and how they could stop it.

The Examination

As the downpour persisted, a gathering of researchers from
a nearby weather station showed up in Workington. They had been observing the cloud from a remote place, and they were anxious to check out the peculiarity.

The researchers set up a headquarters on the edges of the town, and took samples of the raindrops that were dark and seemingly had a life of their own. They ran test after test, and examined the information that was gathered. The outcome of these studies were somewhat alarming.

The raindrops were alive. They appeared to be some form of living organism, alien to anything ever encountered before and they were spreading quickly. In addition they had begun to taint plants and wildlife and the researchers anticipated that it was only a matter of time before they began to contaminate people.

The researchers worked around the clock in an attempt to figure out how to stop the spread of the raindrops. It was a race against time and yet they were making little progress in finding a solution. The raindrops appeared to be insusceptible to each type of treatment they attempted, and time was running out.

The Intrusion

As the downpour continued, the people of Workington became increasingly alarmed and realised that they were enduring an onslaught. The raindrops were beginning to invade homes and businesses all over the town. People blockaded themselves inside their homes in the hope that the raindrops would not be able to penetrate the building.

In practically no time, the town was totally overwhelmed. The roads were vacant, the structures were deserted, and the raindrops continued to fall.

The Opposition

Yet, there were some who chose to take action, determined to find a solution to this onslaught.

A small gathering of people, driven by a retired military veteran named Paul gathered together in the quest to devise a
plan to obliterate these alien raindrops. They scoured the town for weapons and supplies, not really knowing what exactly they were doing. The raindrops continued to fall., and they appeared to adapt to whatever people threw at them.

Paul and his team are not entirely sure on figuring out how to beat this invasion. They scoured the logical exploration that had been completed on the raindrops, searching for any shortcoming that they could take advantage of. Alas, no matter what they tried everything seemed to fail and the raindrops continued to duplicate and spread even further.

They battled to try and figure out how to overcome the invasion which not only had a physical cost but a mental one. It was frustrating and futile. They had lost loved ones to the raindrops, and there was the realisation that they may not survive the ordeal.

Despite the odds being stacked against them, they would not surrender. They would keep on fighting to save their town and their planet from the alien invasion.

The leap forward

Then out of the blue Paul and his group finally found the breakthrough they had been looking for. One of the researchers had found that the raindrops were defenceless against a specific recurrence of sound waves.

The group immediately got to work, building a machine that would discharge these sound waves in an intense burst. They would only have one shot at this to work effectively. The raindrops had adjusted to each and every technique for assault, and they needed to act rapidly before it was past the point of no return.

The group advanced toward the core of the cloud, where they discovered the raindrops were at their thickest. They activated the machine, and the air was filled with a high
pitched sound.

At first, it seemed like their efforts were in vain, but gradually the raindrops began to squirm and wriggle as though in torment. They began to break down, dissipating and blowing endlessly in the breeze. Success, the group were victorious. They had crushed the alien trespassers.

The Consequence

In the aftermath of the attack, the town of Workington was left in ruins. The structures were annihilated, the roads were covered with debris, and the people were left damaged by what they had encountered. Yet, there was on overwhelming feeling of trust.

The survivors had grouped together and retaliated against unimaginable odds, and they had emerged successful. They had shown that mankind was equipped to conquer even the most challenging of difficulties.

As the town rebuilt, the researchers kept on concentrating on the remaining raindrops, attempting to find out about the life structure that had nearly eradicated their town. They realised that they must be ready for any future dangers that could come their way.

The people of Workington, life had gone back to business as usual. They approached their everyday schedules, appreciative of the little things they had underestimated before the attack. They realised that they could always remember the day that the dark cloud had plunged upon their town and the day that they had retaliated against the alien raindrops.

Epilogue

Many years have passed since the attack of the alien raindrops; however, the people of Workington have never forgotten their ability to overcome the challenges they had faced. Together with the determination to eradicate the threat they had to endure amidst confusion and chaos. They become more assertive and recognised the value of planning, participation and trust.

As for Paul, he had become a legend in the town, and many people looked to him as a pioneer.
He continued to work with mainstream researchers, continuously looking for ways to strengthen the town's guards against any future outsider dangers.

One day, while Paul was working in his lab, he received a strange message from an obscure source. The message contained other messages that pointed to a planet on the opposite side of the universe.

Paul was captivated and chose to explore. He gathered a small group of specialists and set off on an excursion that would take them to the most distant places of the universe.

One of the planets was occupied by a high-level civilisation that had dominated the mysteries of space travel and interstellar correspondence. Paul and his group were invited by the occupants of the planet and were astonished by the cutting-edge innovation they saw there.

Before long, they discovered that the planet had been visited by different outsiders, some agreeable and some not, and that the occupants had created ways of guarding themselves against any likely dangers.

Paul was intrigued by the inventiveness and cleverness of the outsider civilisation and started to trade data and thoughts with the researchers there. They shared their insight into the outsider raindrops and found out about the various kinds of extra-earthly life that existed all through the universe.

As Paul and his group prepared to leave the planet and get back, they were given an extraordinary gift by the occupants. It was a little gadget that transmitted a recurrence of sound waves that would repel any outside life forms that could represent a danger to Earth.

As they advanced back to Earth, Paul felt a sense of appreciation and trust. He realised that mankind had a lot to gain from the different civilisations that existed throughout the cosmic system and that it was still up in the air whether
they would keep investigating and extending their insight into the universe.

They imparted their discoveries to established researchers and cooperated to work on Earth's defences against any future outsider dangers.

Over the course of the following couple of years, Paul drove the effort to fabricate a worldwide organisation of researchers and specialists who might be prepared to answer any expected outsider intrusion.

The organisation included groups from everywhere in the world, and they cooperated to foster new advancements and methodologies for safeguarding the planet.

As the years passed, Earth proceeded to flourish, and humankind took extraordinary steps in space investigation and colonisation. Paul's work had prepared for another time of interstellar travel, and humankind had turned into a highly regarded individual from the cosmic local area.

The people of Earth always remembered the illustrations they had picked up during the intrusion of the alien raindrops. They stayed cautious and ready, realising that they would never let their guard down.

Furthermore, Paul, who had once been a straightforward researcher in a modest community, had turned into an image of expectation and assurance for all of mankind. His inheritance lived on for a long time after he was gone, inspiring people in the future to investigate the secrets of the universe and to continuously be prepared for any difficulties that could come their way.

The organisation became known as

I.G.A.D. (Intergalactic Alliance Defence)
