Sabira's Early Life
After losing her parents at a young age, Sabira was raised by her blind aunt and uncle, who relied on begging to survive. When we started a school in this Nomadic community, Sabira was the first girl to show interest in studying. Despite her difficult circumstances, Sabira excelled in school and dreamed of becoming a teacher.
A Glimmer of Hope
One day, Sabira beamed with pride, showing off her new school supplies, bought with her own earnings from begging. I hugged her and said, "You don't need to beg. We'll provide for you. Focus on your studies."
A Crushing Blow
But life had other plans. Sabira stopped attending school, and I discovered she'd been married off to a 28-year-old man who forbade her from education, crushing her dreams.
A Mother's Hope
Years passed, and Sabira became a mother of two. Occasionally, she'd visit our school, tears in her eyes, saying, "I want to become a teacher, but now I have children to care for. I beg for them, just as I did for myself." Yet, she'd smile, "One day, my daughter will fulfill my dream and become a teacher. You'll teach her, won't you?"
The Reality Today
Instead of studying in school, you'll now find Sabira on the city roads, begging. Like Sabira, many girls and students need your help and support.
