It was a crisp autumn day in northern Ohio when the van pulled up to the farm. 3 ambulatory able middle school kids ran out as soon as they could, leaving the side door ramp open for 2 motorized wheelchair kids to disembark. The young boy couldn't wait and moved towards the hen house but the girl, Jessa was bored senseless at 14 she wasn't all that interested in getting dirty, smelling well you know.
But she really didn't want to make a fuss so she moved down the ramp, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible . She pulled out her phone trying to amuse herself but quickly found out no service at the farm. That's just great it smells there's bugs and no internet so now what am I supposed to do
And just then she feels a warm breath above her ,turning her chair she is suddenly facing this coffee colored face of a horse ….who moves ever so gently towards her and blows in her face
………….what came next is unexplainable
She doesn’t hear the voice.
But she feels it—like a breeze curling behind her ear, like a thought that isn’t hers.
The world shifts.
The wind hits her face, warm and wild, and suddenly she’s astride the horse.
No saddle. No reins. Just muscle and motion beneath her,
hooves pounding like thunder across a meadow that stretches farther than memory.
The grass blurs in streaks of gold and green,
the sky above pulses with color she’s never seen before—
not in waking life.
She grips the mane, not for control, but to stay tethered to this moment.
Her heart races, but her body moves as if it’s done this a thousand times.
She doesn’t question how she got here.
She doesn’t know this is a gift—
a vision sent from somewhere else,
a telepathic whisper woven into her senses.
She believes it’s real.
The freedom. The speed. The ache of joy in her chest.
She rides like she’s returning to something ancient,
something buried deep in her bones.
And somewhere, far away,
someone watches.
Someone waits.
Someone knows she’s ready.
What seems like an eternity is less than a minute..once again Jessa was back in her chair.
Looking up the magnificent steed looked into Jessa with his right massive eye and winked……
This is when everything changed for her the day of her special gift.
