And the alarm finally rang at 8 AM. As usual, Riya woke up with the first alarm. But obviously, this was impossible for Muskaan and Ritvik.
The three besties from their Engineering College had finally planned to meet today.
Riya called them, "I knew it! They're not even awake." Muttering to herself, she cut the call and went to the bathroom.
Finally, at 10 AM, her phone rang.
"Are we meeting today?" Riya asked.
"I just woke up, yaar. I have a lot of work to do," Ritvik said from the other side.
"Same! I was about to clean my house when you called. I'm afraid to even count the number of clothes I have to wash now."
"Lol! I haven't even brushed my teeth. Don't remind me about household chores,"
"And our third musketeer hasn't even woken up,"
"Chal! Let's call after finishing our work."
"Bye!"
Finally, Muskaan woke up at noon and immediately regretted her broken sleep schedule. She had promised herself yesterday that she would wake up at 7 or 8 AM and use her only holiday to the fullest. But promises are made to be broken, right?
She sat up in bed, realizing that half the day was already gone. Now, she was confused - should she clean her room, wash her clothes, prepare her food, or call the two idiots and waste another hour?
"For now, let's drop the idea of calling them and get my work done first."
Meanwhile, the three of them got back to their usual routines. Ritvik had to finish his presentation for tomorrow's meeting before thinking of anything else.
The fun-loving trio from their college days, who never thought twice before making instant trip plans, were now struggling to meet for even one day despite living in the same city for six months.
Finally, at 3 PM, Riya got a group video call notification.
"So, what's the plan, buddy?" Ritvik asked.
"We can meet today if you both want," Muskaan answered.
"Yeah, I don't have a problem." Riya and Ritvik answered in unison.
"At 5 PM then?"
"I have a presentation tomorrow. I need some time to sort everything out. Shall we meet for dinner instead?" Ritvik suggested.
"I have morning duty tomorrow, dude. You know I need my eight hours of sleep to function properly," Riya denied the proposal.
"Even I don't want to go out late at night; my sinus problem gets worse in winter," Muskaan agreed.
"So, shall we drop the plan?"
"We guess so."
"Lol! Again?"
"Let's plan for a weekday. We only get one day off, so we all feel lazy to go out," Muskaan suggested.
"Girls, I have night duty. Have you forgotten?" Ritvik reminded them.
"Oh right, we don't even have the same weekly schedule."
"Forget it. Let's plan another day."
"Yeah, that'll be better."
"Okay, bye."
"Bye!"
And once again, the three partners-in-crime failed to execute their meetup plan for the third consecutive Sunday.
As Chandler Bing once said, "We're not 21 anymore!"
