This is a heartbreaking account, and the writer’s helplessness comes through strongly—especially in the contrast between rushing her husband to the hospital and never seeing him come out of surgery. The grief and frustration toward the medical system feel very raw. I did find the story difficult to follow in places because so much is compressed into one long passage, and I wanted more detail about the husband, their relationship, and what happened during those 24 hours. Even so, the ending leaves a painful question about accountability and how a family is supposed to find reassurance after such a loss.
