Echoes of the Veil

The mirror’s awakening and the first breach into Sera’s loft make for vivid, propulsive fantasy, and her practical resistance gives the bond tension rather than making it effortless. Kaelen’s “you will never run from me again” is compellingly threatening, though the story has not yet fully earned the romance beneath that possessiveness. The atmosphere is wonderfully cold and dangerous.
