No Good Deed
A very enjoyable comic misadventure, with the narrator’s delayed turnaround and growing curiosity building nicely from an ordinary good deed into something that feels genuinely sinister. I especially liked how Anton’s collapse, the locked door and the strange voices encourage the reader to imagine something far darker—only for the Furbys to deflate the whole mystery. The final news-report touch is wonderfully dry, and the narrator’s embarrassment makes the ending land.
