Mafia Don's Captive Donna
This opening has a very readable, dramatic pull. Isabella and Dante make an immediately tense pair: she is frightened but still finds the nerve to answer him back, while his cold control keeps slipping whenever her kindness reaches him. I especially enjoyed the breakfast scene, where āYou bring an injured stranger into your home, and now you're preparing breakfast for him?ā turns the danger into an unexpectedly funny moment. Isabellaās loneliness also gives her choices more weight; feeding him and caring for him feel like small acts of compassion, even while he threatens her. The story moves quickly through the danger and setup, with each chapter ending on a strong hook. The final mystery involving the pet-shop purchase is a fun cliffhanger, though the gun-at-her-head premise makes Danteās attraction and any future romance feel morally complicatedāand potentially much darker than the playful dialogue suggests. Iām curious what Isabella has planned and whether she will gain real power in this situation, rather than simply being drawn into Danteās world.
