The Last Step

"The Last Step" is a short horror story about Emma, who habitually counts the 50 steps to her apartment. One night, she notices something is off—there are only 49 steps. As she hesitates on the landing, an ominous presence makes itself known. When she hears a whisper behind her, revealing she already took the "last step," it becomes clear she has crossed into something far more terrifying than her familiar stairwell.
