Collapse in Church

In 2008, I was still in high school here in Sigatoka, and I was living with my grandma in a new house in Nawaya. For your information, this year, when all of the romance Filipino series and other Korean truly took off and hit in Fiji, people would walk from house to house asking, "Do you have Gulong Part 1 to 4?" and they would trade disks (CD Player).

My grandmother is usually up todate on the latest series, whether Filipino, Korean, or South American movie , and I remember a box sent to her by a friend that had Mills and Boons in CD cases. We'd watch all of the series from late at night till early in the morning, mostly on weekends. We would give the TV screen and DVD player 5 minutes per hour throughout that hour.

From Grannie's home in Nayawa on the opposite side of the road was the Milk Bar Shop (24/7) where I would go to buy CD's while we were still awake when we realized we had seen the entire episode, and they sell a lot of things including CD's and they are very up to date on all the series,

One Saturday, we watched the entire episode of Sa Piligi Mo series until 6 a.m. Sunday morning, after which I took a shower, went straight to my room, got dressed, and told my grandmother I was going to Mass (Catholic Mass), which was at 7 a.m. I walked from my home in Nayawa to church because the mass was at 7 a.m.

When I arrived at the church, the service was about to begin, and as is customary for Catholics, the congregation stood when the priest entered until the Bible was ready to be read by the first and second lectors, and then stood again when the gospel was read by the Priest himself.

As far as I remember, I fell asleep and tumbled down the chair when the lectors were reading. When everyone stood for the Gospel reading, (my aunt who was a teacher for children with disability ) who was sitting behind me stood up and sat behind me, fearing I was suffering a seizure and tried to force her hand into my mouth.

After church, I was given a cab fare, and I couldn't laugh since I knew why I fell in church. They all believed I was collapsing, but I had fallen completely asleep.

The moral of the story is that you can't serve two masters.
