One of the things I faced as a kid was BULLYING.

I vividly remember an encounter I had with a bully; Amaka,which almost took my life.

Everybody knew Amaka as a bully and she had a special disliking for me;I wondered what I did to her.

Whenever I passed by,Amaka would call me 'kom kom' meaning 'empty can',sometimes she'd call me 'kokonut' which pissed me off.

I could do nothing because amaka was much bigger than I though she was of my age.

One fateful evening,I was on my way to run some errands at home, Amaka saw me from across the the street and started yelling 'kom kom' , I knew she was referring to me but I ignored her which made her furious,seeing that I was no longer affected by her bullying.

She walked up to me and pulled my hair "kom kom, didn't you hear when I called you?" She spat

"My name isn't 'kom kom' it's 'kosi'" I said pointing at her with my index finger. This made Amaka more furious ;" stop pointing at me,my parents are not dead" Amaka shouted at me. I scoffed and flipped my hair.

Seeing that I had made her angry, she pushed me down, saddled me and beat me black and blue, I kicked my legs in air which was rather useless.

She shoved a handful of sand into my mouth which muffled my screams. This girl pinned me to the ground and sat on me , almost squeezing my face..big show had nothing on this girl.

I saw my life flash before my eyes, my brain blurred , I was suffocating.

I thought I was going to give up, I had already envisioned myself in heaven but not so soon. My soul was already chanting "Jesus take the wheel....". Luckily for me, passerbys intervened which made Amaka take her heels.

With all the energy I could muster, I went home , but I never told mumsy what happened to me shaa because she would beat me up too for having being beaten by my age mate.
