**Isla de las Muñecas**, or the Island of the Dolls, is a chilling and haunted destination located in the Xochimilco canals near Mexico City. Covered with hundreds of decaying dolls, the island is said to be cursed after its lone inhabitant, Don Julián Santana Barrera, found a drowned girl's body in the 1950s. In an attempt to honor her spirit, he began collecting dolls, but soon believed the island was haunted by the girl's restless soul.
