The Self-centered church member
Your story makes me aware that nuns, and other religious, are not perfect just because they choose to serve God. They become vulnerable to temptations of delusions of power and self-exaltation which leads them away from their calling. But in a convent, there are fellow nuns who can a help a straying nun return to a life with God through prayer and pious activities.

A clear, heartfelt faith-based story about the difference between serving God and seeking recognition. Marlita’s transformation is easy to understand, and the older women’s decision to pray for her rather than condemn her gives the story a warm, compassionate center. The closing image—“the greatest place in the church was not the stage—it was at the feet of Jesus”—nicely reinforces the message. I did feel her change happened rather quickly, and a little more detail showing how she learned to serve differently would make the redemption feel even more earned. Still, the message of humility comes through sincerely and effectively.
