ShortStoryLovers Story Submission Guidelines

ShortStoryLovers has published more short stories than most in the world. We wish to continue to do the same. We invite all of you to send us your work, whether you are established or budding authors. Submit your story here.

• The word limit for the story should preferably be between 400-15000. But the numbers are flexible.
• You have to be registered Author on our platform to submit a story.
• We have our own online content submission tool. You can either copy-paste your story or write directly using the tool. The story will be saved as drafts as you continue to update.
• Once the story is complete, you have to submit it for review. It will be published once the review process is finished.
• We believe in publishing quality content, therefore our standards for acceptance are quite high. We request all the authors to familiarize themselves with the kind of works published on ShortStoryLovers, before submitting their own stories.
• Previously published content can be submitted, but it has to be an original work of the author, under their own name.
• In case one wishes to submit works by established authors, it will be allowed only if the said content is free to use, but no royalty will be awarded for the same.
• Currently, we do not accept any kind of image or illustration as part of the content of the story, except for the images used for the cover page.
• The dimensions of the cover image should preferably be 800 x 800 px. They should be in jpg, jpeg or png format.
• The cover image must include the title of the short story and the name of the author.
• We pay a royalty on the basis of the number of views your story receives.
• All stories must be in English. Translations are acceptable but must be accompanied by a copy of the original text.
• We are an online community that believes in fostering creative writing by encouraging our authors to review works by other authors. Hone your writing skills by uploading stories and by reviewing other works on the website.
• All interactions must be friendly and respectful. Constructive criticism is appreciated but any kind of disrespectful and abusive will not be tolerated.
• Our site is entirely ad-free and we respect your privacy.
• Your work remains your own - we never claim any rights to it - and is visible only to our subscribers.
• You are free to add/ edit / delete your stories from your own account.
• Due to increasing submissions and a limited editorial staff, we cannot guarantee a specific response time window. Generally, we take two weeks before we take a decision whether to Publish, Reject or send back for Re-work.
• We prefer genre specific stories and we accept all genres.
• Novel excerpts are only accepted if it stands alone as a story.
