It is a chilly day, the Coopers are finally genuinely happy, especially for Emma, it's been a long 8 years of battling postpartum depression, she has been in the hospital on and off, but the last three months have been the best of her life and the doctors finally released her fully.
Cooper is happy that his wife is finally healed, he can finally see the smile of the bubbly girl he befriended in high-school, he could see a will to live in her gorgeous blue eyes, unknown to her he had taken a month leave from work to be able to reconnect with his wife, oh! Eva, Emma's sister has been living with the Coopers from the time she was in high-school, she walks in and jokingly says eeeww get a room, Cooper and Emma laugh it off, Eva was a freshman when Caleb, Emma and Coopers son was born, due to Emma's postpartum depression she stepped in with love and made sure Caleb was okay.

The Coopers are going to the family vacation home in Malibu, they have not been there for a while, Caleb is very excited, it's his first time to visit the vacation home, he woke up early and forced his parents and aunt to wake up, I mean I can't blame him, we have all been there.
The family of four arrive at the home, the house keeper hands them the keys, as they get in, Emma is surprised to see all her family members in the living room, her nana, her mom, dad, her brother Jemmy, his wife Whelma and their two kids, "suprise" says Cooper, Emma is overwhelmed and can't stop crying.

The day goes on really well, the family bonds over some good food, drinks and games, Cooper goes a ahead to show his in-laws around the vacation home, it's around 4pm in the evening, Caleb runs to Eva and tells her, I love my mommy, I'm so happy she is not pushing Me away, she even kissed me on the cheek and told me I was a good boy, I'm so happy she is not mad at me all the time, I'm so happy I'm not the reason she is angry all the time, this statement made Eva both happy and sad at the same time, but she was happy Emma was okay now.
Caleb and Eva are at the swimming pool area, they hear Emma shouting from the tennis court area, they run, and what they see is heart breaking, Emma was in the middle of the court with a kitchen knife.
She threatens to kill herself if anyone goes near her, she is screaming, shouting and crying so loud, Cooper tries to run to her, Eva tells Caleb to look away, she turns him to the other side and covers his ears, in a split of a second, before Cooper could get to her, she slits her wrists then her throat, she dies on the spot.
It's 26 years later, Caleb is now a psychiatrist with the Vincentian hospital, he mainly deals with women who have postpartum depression, he has healed a lot of women, this has made him respected,he also leads an AA meating every Saturday and Sunday, Caleb has no social life at all,but he is happy to be helping women overcome the condition that took his mom from him.
In Dallas where Caleb lives, a new detective has been recruited to solve a specific case, women suffering from post partum depression have been commiting suicide after exactly 3 months of getting help, when they start getting better, they commit suicide, Detective Agatha who is a rookie needs to solve this case to prove that she is the best for the job.
She calls Caleb in to help her with the investigations, they are able to find out that a total of forty three women had committed suicide, eight of them had been Calebs patients, other psychiatrist are brought in for questioning, and the other suicides are distributed among their patients, but there is an inevitable pattern.
All the patients that had committed suicide were women who had just had their first baby, all their psychiatrists had reached out to caleb to give them professional advice to help with their patients since Caleb seemed to have figured it all out, Detective Agatha is able to attain warrant of arrest from a lawyer and Caleb is arrested.
Caleb does not resist arrest, he is taken in, and he immediately confesses to the murders, he confessed of killing the women and staging it to look like a suicide, Detective Agatha asks him how he was able to do that for many years, he told her that they trusted him and they let him in their houses, accepted coffee date invites since they knew he was a safe space for them, he slit their wrists and let them bleed to death.
The Detective was curious to know why, this is when we are taken back with flashes of memories of that fateful day, he said his mother never loved him, so the other kids did not deserve to be loved, he wanted their mothers to die so that they could suffer the way he did.
Caleb is taken to a psychiatrist facility, the same one where he was an accomplished and respected psychiatrist, his hands are tied on either sides of his body because he is a danger to himself and the people around him, he keeps saying, " Mommy I'm 8 years old, you can't pick me up" indicating that he never healed from the trauma of his mom not wanting anything to do with him since he was born, and when he thought she was okay and was finally going to love him she committed suicide
