In a quiet forest clearing, a group of young caterpillars dangled lazily from a leafy branch, munching on leaves and chatting about how they’d someday grow wings.
Down below, a long line of ants marched in perfect formation, carrying bits of food back to their anthill. They moved quickly, worked silently, and never stopped.
One morning, a curious caterpillar named Coco looked down and called out, “Hey ants! Why do you work all day? Don’t you ever rest or dream?”
An ant paused and replied, “We’re preparing for the rainy days ahead. We store food while the sun still shines.”
Coco laughed. “That sounds tiring! We prefer to enjoy life as it comes.”
The ants simply nodded and continued their work.
Days passed. The clouds darkened, and heavy rains soaked the forest. The caterpillars had no shelter and little food. Shivering on their branch, Coco remembered the ants’ warning.
But just as hope began to fade, the ants appeared with leaves and berries.
“You helped us?” asked Coco, surprised.
The ant smiled. “Even though we are different, the forest is home to all of us. Helping each other keeps it strong.”
When the sun returned, the caterpillars dried off and soon began to spin their cocoons. Weeks later, beautiful butterflies filled the sky, and Coco, now soaring above, looked down and whispered, “Thank you, little friends.”
From then on, the butterflies always shared nectar with the ants, and the ants always welcomed them with open paths.
