Ram and Ravi are twin brothers. Their father, Kesavan, works as a manager in an IT company. One day, he got a promotion and transfer from Chennai to Bangalore. They needed a house, so they searched through broker apps. After checking many houses, they chose one because it had a modular kitchen and was a 3BHK.
Now Ram, Ravi, their mother Shella, and father Kesavan were moving from Chennai to Bangalore. Ram and Ravi were 14 years old. They finished their 9th grade in Chennai and were going to join 10th standard in Bangalore.
After reaching their new house, they had a housewarming. Shella started boiling milk for the pooja. But the milk got spoiled. Shella felt upset she believed it was a bad sign. But Kesavan didn't take it seriously. He told her not to overthink.
That night, while everyone was sleeping, Ram heard a girl crying sound. It was soft and slow, but full of pain. He opened his eyes and listened carefully. The sound was coming from the hall. He got up and walked to the hall, but no one was there. He stood silently for a few seconds. Suddenly, the ceiling fan in the hall began to rotate slowly even though there was no power. Ram ran back to his room, scared, and tried to sleep.
Next morning, Shella was cooking. Suddenly, she too heard a girl crying behind her. She turned quickly. No one. She got frightened. She told Kesavan, but he scolded her and said she was imagining things.
After Kesavan left for office and Ram and Ravi left for school, Shella continued arranging things from the shifting. She took a mirror and placed it in the hall, facing the entrance. She handled it carefully. But after she went to her room, she heard a loud noise. She rushed out. The mirror was broken. She knew she placed it safely. This was the second bad sign. She cleaned the glass and threw it in the bin.
But something strange happened.
As she was throwing the glass, one piece had blood on its edge even though she didn't get hurt.
That evening, Ram and Ravi came home. They changed, ate snacks, and were watching TV. Ram went to the bathroom. Shella was sleeping due to a headache. Ravi was alone in the hall. Suddenly, he heard a girl crying softly. He looked around and saw a black shadow near the sofa. Then, the shadow moved behind the curtain.
Ravi screamed loudly. Ram and Shella came running. Ravi cried and told everything. Shella immediately applied thiruneer on their foreheads and prayed.
Ram then told what happened the previous night the crying sound, and the fan turning on without power.
Shella called Kesavan. He came home immediately and brought a samiyar. The samiyar walked around the house, chanting mantras. He stopped at the hall and stood silently near the corner where the mirror had fallen.
He said in a serious tone,
"There is a spirit here. A girl. She died with a deep pain. Her soul is trapped. She's crying? not for revenge, but for her lost life."
Then the twist came.
The samiyar looked at Shella and asked,
"Have you noticed? your mirror in the hall was placed facing the door?"
Shella nodded.
The samiyar said,
"That mirror opened her path. Mirrors are doors to other worlds. When you placed it facing the entrance, she entered."
Shella's eyes widened. She remembered after placing the mirror, everything started.
The samiyar warned them,
"She is not just any ghost. She was pregnant when she died. Her cries are not only hers. Her unborn child is also trapped. That is why the spirit is double strong."
He gave lemon and manthiricha kayiru to protect them temporarily.
"You must shift house within three days. If not, this spirit will not just scare? she will destroy."
Kesavan immediately started searching. They got a new house and began shifting.
While shifting, Kesavan spoke to the shopkeeper opposite their old house. The man sighed and said:
"A husband and wife lived there. The husband doubted his wife always, beat her often. But the wife was a kind girl. She was an orphan who only wanted a good family. She got pregnant and told her husband. But he shouted at her and accused her of cheating. That night, she poured petrol and burned herself in that hall. No one in this area forgets her crying sound."
He continued,
"Every family who comes here hears her cries. But yours was the first to place a mirror facing the door. That brought her fully into the house."
Kesavan was shocked. He remembered how Shella had carefully placed the mirror that first morning. He looked at his family and promised they would never speak of that house again.
They entered their new house and hoped that no spirit followed them.
