Oh wow, I can hardly believe I'm sharing this story. Andile and I crossed paths in what I thought was an unlikely place to find love - in a club. But, contrary to my expectations, love found me there. Here's how it happened...
First, a little about myself. My name is Gugu, and as I write this, I'm sitting at the well-known Uncle Merv's Cafe in Maboneng, right at the corner of Fox and Kruger. I'm enjoying a Butterscotch Latte and a slice of Caramel and Berry Cake, the special of the day.
It's a beautiful Saturday. The sky is blue and cool, the birds are chirping, cars are passing by, and there's the sound of footsteps around. Talented photographers have already claimed their spots to capture moments beneath the iconic golden letters that spell out 'Maboneng.'
I chose this spot because it reminds me of the day I met the person I believe to be the love of my life. He is my love, now and always.
Love entered my life in the most unexpected way. I had never imagined that I would find love amidst a room full of people dancing to loud music with disco lights flashing all around. But on May 1st, 2021, that's exactly what happenend.

1. The Initial Encounter:
As I was lost in the rhythm of the music, trying to escape the stresses of the week, I noticed him behind the DJ booth. He wasn't just any DJ - he was the kind who seemed to command the room with an effortless grace, seamlessly blending beats and setting the mood for everyone to dance. His name, I soon learned, was Andile.
There was something magnetic about him, a combination of confidence and passion that drew me in. I found myself gravitating toward the DJ booth, entranced by how he seemed to communicate with the crowd through his music. It was as if he was speaking a language that resonated deeply with me.
2. The First Conversation:
After a few hours of dancing and gathering the courage, I decided to strike up a conversation with Andile. I approached him during a break, my heart racing. I complimented his set and told him how much his music had lifted my spirits. He looked surprised but genuinely pleased.
We started talking about our favorite tracks and the artists that inspired us. To my amazement, we found common ground in our music tastes and life philosophies. Andile had a way of making me feel as if we had known each other for years, even though we had just met.
3. The Connection Deepens:
As the night went on, Andile and I found ourselves dancing together, lost in our own little world amidst the sea of people. His touch was electrifying, and every smile he gave me felt like a promise. By the end of the night, he asked if I'd like to meet him again. It wasn't a question; it was an invitation I couldn't refuse.
We exchanged numbers, and what followed was a whirlwind of messages and phone calls. We discovered that we had so much more in common than just our love for music. Our dates were filled with laughter, deep conversations, and countless shared moments that made it clear we were meant to be.
4. Reflecting on the Journey:
As I sit here at Uncle Merv's Cafe, reminiscing about that fateful night, I realize how fortunate I am to have found Andile in such an unlikely place. The vibrant energy of that club was the backdrop to a love story that has become the most precious chapter of my life. Every time I hear the songs that played that night, I am reminded of the magical connection we forged on that dance floor and then Zuri was concieved.
