Chapter 17: The Fatal Deal

Tarun called Anant and fixed a meeting in the evening at the motel near the highway. All the boys in the evening met at Tarun's building. Mohit suggested that they should take a car on rent from the stolen money, as it would be risky if they dealt anywhere else. They all went to the place and started a conversation with Anant. Tarun made up a story and narrated to him that 2 days ago, he went to his village house, which was locked up for 15 years, where he found this stone in his grandmother's trunk, and it looked precious. When Anant saw the ruby, it looked valuable and asked him what Tarun wanted from him. Tarun, without hesitation, said he wanted his help to sell this and would give him five percent of the deal. Anant, after some thought, bargained with him to give ten percent, on which everyone asserted. Mohit warned Anant not to tell anyone. He agreed and asked them to come tomorrow at his house, where he would arrange a meeting with a person who could help.

All three of them, in their rented car, reached Anant's house where they met a guy. They showed the pearl to him, and after analyzing it, the man suggested that this ruby would cost between 5 to 7 crores. Everyone was mesmerized. Mohit asked the man if he could purchase this stone. The man laughed and claimed that despite its authenticity, it couldn't be sold in the open market as the stone did not contain any papers, and he himself didn't deal in such a high amount. All the boys got disheartened, but the man stated he knew a businessman who could acquire this ruby without any problem. He could help them connect, but he wanted five percent of the deal. Everyone acceded to the deal. The man made a phone call and arranged a meeting with the businessman that night at a warehouse and asked them to bring the ruby.

In the night, all three of them went to the place. The warehouse looked weird and secluded. Both the men and Anant were already waiting for them inside. The man enquired about the boys and asked them to give him the stone. Tarun refused and asked him to meet the businessman first. A rough voice came out from the top floor, and it was none other than Mr. Jaichand. The boys were in shock upon seeing him. He ordered, saying "Kamal," and the man who was with the boys showed a pistol to them. Anant, standing there, had no idea what was happening. Anant asked Kamal about the situation. Without reluctance, Kamal shot Anant in the head. All the boys got terrified, and meanwhile, Jaichand came to the ground floor with a smile and oppressed the boys by saying, due to all their fault, their friend had lost his life.

Sagar weakly stepped down to Jaichand's feet and asked for forgiveness. He promised him to give Jaichand's belongings back, but Jaichand moved his eyes, and Kamal put a bullet in Sagar's head; he died on his feet. By seeing this scene, both Tarun and Mohit felt horror. Jaichand asked them about his ruby. Mohit pleaded with him and said not to kill them because he would not be able to get his ruby as they had not brought it there and it was kept somewhere else. He said, "If you want it, you should leave us first". Kamal punched Mohit and was about to kill him, but Jaichand stopped him and asked the boys to guide him to the place, and he would forgive them and let them live.

All of them went on the road. The boys were driving their car, and Jaichand with Kamal were accompanying him from behind in their car. After a moment, a big truck hit the car of the boys, and the car was thrown away and crashed. Jaichand went near the crashed car, in which Mohit was no longer alive, but Tarun was holding his last breath. Jaichand opened the car dashboard and took out the ruby and left Tarun dying. In the end, he was congratulating the truck driver and ordered him to dispose of the two bodies from the warehouse at the backside of the warehouse. When both Kamal and Jaichand were driving, he showed him a video on his mobile. The video was from a few hours earlier when the boys had arrived at the warehouse and they were discussing not bringing the ruby inside the warehouse and keeping it in the car.
