"Where are we going?" I ask curiously. "You'll see. I already told your mom we're taking the afternoon to hang out," he says,"she gave me her stamp of approval." I look at him, curious of where he's taking me,but he's completely focused on the road,so I decide to glance outside the window. "Don't worry, you'll like it," he says, reassuring me.
I must've fallen asleep somewhere, because when I opened my eyes,we were parked in front of a beach, somewhere off the coast, just a few miles out of town. Somehow this place looks very familiar. "Come on," he says opening the locks of the car doors.
As we walk along the beach,I stare at the big pool of water infront if me."I've seen this place before?" I say hesitantly,to which he replies,"We used to play here when we were little. We always made sandcastles, but as we grew older,we got too busy?and well?". As I look at him,I get the sense of nostalgia. And I'm sure he does too, because he gazes at me softly, then looks at the waves crashing on the sand in front of our feet.
We seat ourselves on a bench near the parking lot, just to admire the view. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, then open them again."When did things get so complicated?" I say to him as I keep staring at the waves in front of me. "Things have always been complicated,we were just to yound to notice it," he replies. I put my head on his shoulder,"I've missed this." He smiles, then replies,"Yeah,me too." We watch the sunset, and how the light reflects on the water. Soon after,we decide to head back to the car, going back to face our reality.
