Love in Bloom Again
That night, they stayed beneath the almond tree, talking until the stars arrived. He told her about the war, the places he'd seen, the injury that delayed his return.
"I carried your paper heart the whole time," he said, pulling out a worn, creased scrap of paper from his pocket. It was faded but intact. Her handwriting still visible: "Wherever you go, I'll wait under the almond tree."
She showed him the jar she had kept hidden beneath the roots. He read the letters one by one, tears welling in his eyes.
They didn't speak about lost time or regrets. They spoke about tomorrow. About planting flowers around the tree. About building a home nearby.
The almond tree, older now and heavier with branches, stood as witness to their reunion.
It had seen them fall in love once before but now, it saw something deeper two souls that found their way back to each other, not in youth, but in truth.
And under its shade, love bloomed again.
