The abandoned opera house stood in complete darkness.
Rain poured over its cracked roof as thunder echoed through the empty auditorium.
A single spotlight illuminated the stage.
Father Michael sat tied to a wooden chair.
Bruised.
Exhausted.
But unbroken.
Adrian Volkov stood beside him, hands clasped behind his back.
"You still believe she'll come."
Father Michael smiled weakly.
"I know she will."
Volkov looked toward the entrance.
"So do I."
Thirty minutes later...
Three black SUVs stopped outside the theater.
Victoria stepped out first.
Emily followed close behind, her injured shoulder still wrapped beneath her jacket.
Walker looked at her.
"You shouldn't be here."
Emily checked the magazine in her pistol.
"I'm exactly where I need to be."
Victoria glanced at her.
Their eyes met.
Neither of them needed to say anything.
Inside the theater, silence greeted them.
The grand hall had long since fallen into ruin.
Broken chandeliers hung from the ceiling.
Rows of velvet seats were covered in dust.
The stage stood empty.
Too empty.
Walker's voice was barely a whisper.
"It's another trap."
Before anyone could move—
The spotlight flickered on.
Father Michael appeared at center stage.
Alive.
Victoria took a step forward.
"Father!"
Another spotlight illuminated the balcony above.
Volkov.
He slowly applauded.
"I knew you'd come."
Victoria raised her pistol.
"This ends tonight."
Volkov smiled.
"Does it?"
He pressed a button on a small remote.
A large screen descended behind the stage.
Security footage filled the screen.
Emily froze.
It showed Richard Hayes entering the FBI evidence vault... and stealing the Atlas files.
Walker stared in disbelief.
"It's Hayes..."
Volkov nodded.
"Your traitor."
Walker immediately reached for his radio.
Volkov laughed.
"Too late."
"The moment you walked in here..."
"...he disappeared."
Gabriel emerged from the shadows beside the stage.
This time he walked directly to Victoria.
No hesitation.
No weapon raised.
Only uncertainty.
"I came."
Victoria smiled through tears.
"You did."
She embraced him.
For a moment, twenty years of pain disappeared.
Emily watched with a smile.
Luca quietly wiped a tear from his eye.
Even Walker looked away to give them privacy.
Volkov's expression darkened.
"So..."
"This is what you choose."
Gabriel stepped in front of his sister.
"I choose my family."
Silence filled the theater.
Volkov nodded slowly.
"I was afraid you'd say that."
He pressed the remote again.
A loud mechanical click echoed through the building.
Walker looked up.
"Oh no..."
Steel doors slammed shut over every exit.
Emergency lights turned red.
A computerized voice echoed through the theater.
Explosive devices armed.
Ten-minute countdown initiated.
Emily's eyes widened.
"He rigged the entire building."
Volkov calmly walked toward the back of the stage.
"If I can't have Atlas..."
"...then none of you leave alive."
He disappeared behind the curtains.
Walker immediately took command.
"Luca, find the explosives."
"Gabriel, help Father Michael."
"Emily..."
He looked at her injured shoulder.
"...stay with Victoria."
Emily nodded.
Together, she and Victoria searched beneath the stage.
There, hidden behind old scenery, they found dozens of explosives connected by wires.
Emily examined the timer.
"We can't disarm all of them."
Victoria looked around desperately.
"There has to be a master switch."
Emily suddenly noticed a thick cable leading beneath the stage.
"That way."
They followed it into a narrow service tunnel.
At the end stood a reinforced steel door.
Victoria inserted the brass key Father Michael had given her weeks earlier.
The lock clicked.
The door slowly opened.
Inside was a small control room.
On one wall hung an old photograph.
Alessandro Moretti...
Standing beside Adrian Volkov.
Both were smiling.
Brothers in everything except blood.
On the table lay a final letter.
Victoria picked it up with trembling hands.
My daughter...
If you have reached this room, then you have discovered the hardest truth of all.
Adrian was once the man I trusted most.
He was like my brother.
Until greed consumed him.
Victoria's eyes filled with tears.
"So Father Michael was telling the truth..."
Emily gently placed a hand over hers.
"You know who your father really was now."
Victoria nodded.
"He tried to stop the darkness..."
"...even if it cost him everything."
The countdown echoed through the speakers.
Five minutes remaining.
Emily looked at the control panel.
"I've found the master switch."
Victoria took a deep breath.
"Do it."
Emily reached for the lever—
Just as a voice echoed from the doorway.
"I wouldn't."
They turned.
Adrian Volkov stood there.
A pistol in his hand.
Pointed directly at Emily.
Victoria slowly stepped in front of her without hesitation.
Volkov smiled sadly.
"I knew you'd choose her."
"And now..."
"...I'll make you live with that choice."
He tightened his finger on the trigger.
The shot rang out.
