Chapter 1

I walk along the sidewalk, facedown, watching every step I take. I barely notice someone pushing me from the side and before I could realise what was happening,I tumble to the ground, falling flat on my face. "Great, just what I needed," I mumble to myself. I get up,dust myself off and pick up my bag.

"Hey,you okay?"

My best friend,Natalie, rushes to my side, brushing off some of the dirt that remained on my skirt.

"Yeah,I'm fine, just some guy that pushed me off the face of the earth," I say with a sarcastic tone.

"Just another day in High School," she says laughingly.

As we walk along the school fence,we talk about everything that happened in our school day. Apparently,Natalie and I are the most boring teenage girls that ever existed. Thankfully, she loves gossip,so when there's tea to spill, she makes sure it is served hot. Surpsingly,on this day,she has nothing to say.

"You're?particularly quiet today?" I say,testing the waters.

"What is that supposed to mean?" She says, acting offended. She's always been one to be a tad dramatic. She then explains to me that she is an 'innocent angel',continuing the speech by saying things like 'I don't spill secrets' or 'I can't believe that's what you think of me'. Luckily I know her very well, and as she ended her speech,I began the countdown:

Three. Two. One

"Okay fine, there's this new guy in school," she began rambling.

I listen to her, smiling as her voice changes depending on how excited she is. When the story gets good, she starts talking faster and her pitch gets higher.

She tells me about this new guy in our school. Apparently his name is Andre?wait?

"Andrew Banks?" I ask interruptingly.

She looks at me confused and nods with uncertainty.

"He isn't new,Nat." Her blank expression causes me to burst out in laughter. As I catch my breath, she tries to explain that 'it's not her fault that he isn't important enough to earn a place in her memory',which causes me to laugh even more. Soon enough she joins my laughing spree.
