We had never had a serious sickness in our family. Until I was 15 years old. My dad was diagnosed with "the c word". Yep that's right. Cancer. Esophagus cancer.
Unfortunately, that was around the time of the covid outbreak. So me and my siblings were stuck in Georgia, while my parents were in Texas for dads treatments. They were gone for about two months.
When they finally came home, they told us about the surgery he had to have. Great. Back to Texas. All of us. For a month.
Two weeks after dads surgery we finally flew back to GA. I had never wanted to be home so bad in my life. Everything was great. Cancer free. But every time dads six month follow up came around, it was nothing but anxiety for him.
