The subterranean volcanic chamber shook with the deafening roar of a fractured planet.
From the boiling magma lake beneath the split orichalcum disc, the two colossal tentacles of the Void-Mother lashed outward, each half a mile long and lined with weeping, abyssal suckers that dripped liquid anti-matter onto the ancient stone pillars.
The heat in the cavern was staggering, a violent clash of sulfurous four-thousand-degree lava and the weeping, absolute-zero chill of the void.
Kaelen Vance struck the fracturing disc like an obsidian meteor.
The kinetic shockwave of his descent detonated across the orichalcum surface, blowing a hundred Void-Knights off their boots and hurling their armored bodies into the boiling magma below.
Without pausing, Kaelen lunged straight for Supreme Arch-Prelate Malgareth.
Gloom-Weaver descended in a brutal two-handed execution cleave, its dark-matter edge humming with lethal hunger. Malgareth brought up the Spear of the Desolate Void to parry, the anti-matter shaft meeting the adamantine broadsword in a blinding detonation of violet lightning and concussive thunder.
"You cannot kill a shadow, Vance!" Malgareth shrieked, his withered robes billowing as he channeled the pure essence of the rising Void-Mother into his limbs.
"You are not a shadow, priest," Kaelen rumbled, his molten silver eyes burning with predatory fury. "You are just meat waiting for the grave!"
Kaelen’s eighty-foot shadow-wings surged forward like barbed mantis scythes, pinning the Arch-Prelate's arms.
With a savage snarl, Kaelen twisted his blade, shearing the spear’s anti-matter head clean off its shaft before driving his armored boot directly into Malgareth’s chest, shattering his withered ribcage and sending the prelate skidding across the fractured disc.
Above them, the two titanic void-tentacles reared back, preparing to slam down and smash the remaining halves of the Prime Seal into the lava.
"Seraphina, the left flank!" Kaelen roared across their mate-bond.
"I see it!" she answered, her voice ringing clear over the roar of collapsing stone.
Seraphina was already in motion, banking hard through the sulfurous steam.
Her twenty-foot wings of starlight burned with blinding, thermonuclear intensity, casting a brilliant sunrise across the subterranean vault. Reaching into her dimensional core, she didn't just draw on her ancestral Sunblood; she activated every relic they had claimed across the globe.
The azure storm-plasma of the Heart of Susanoo, the blinding solar fire of the Solar Dynamo of Ra, and the pristine harmonic resonance of the Stonehenge Bluestones fused within her veins.
Her sunstone recurve bow ignited into a blinding arc of multi-elemental plasma.
She drew the bowstring to her cheek, aiming straight for the base of the left tentacle where it emerged from the volcanic trench.
Twang.
The arrow screamed across the cavern, leaving an expanding corkscrew trail of golden dawn and azure lightning. It pierced the skyscraper-sized tentacle dead center.
The primordial limb shuddered violently as the celestial energy detonated within its marrow. A chain reaction of blinding light raced through the dark matter, dissolving the titanic tentacle into harmless, sparkling ash that rained softly into the lava.
The Void-Mother screeched from the depths—an ear-splitting, psychic howl that caused the two-mile ice ceiling above to crack and groan.
The remaining right tentacle whipped around, targeting Seraphina with blinding speed.
Before the barbed limb could crush her, Kaelen launched himself from the disc.
He didn't use his blade; he wrapped both arms around the tentacle's base, channeling the full, unbridled gravity of an imploding star directly into its mass.
"Die, abomination!" Kaelen roared, his muscles tearing against his armor as he ripped the second tentacle clean from the rift, hurling the writhing mass into the boiling magma below.
With the vanguard limbs destroyed, Kaelen dropped back onto the central disc beside Seraphina, breathing heavily.
Malgareth was crawling toward the central fissure, coughing black blood as he reached for the severed spear-tip.
"The gate... is still open..." the dying prelate wheezed, his hollow eyes burning with desperate malice. "The Mother... rises..."
Kaelen stepped forward and brought his heavy boot down on Malgareth's skull, ending the Arch-Prelate with a sickening crunch.
He turned to Seraphina, his chest heaving, his silver eyes locking onto hers.
Beneath their boots, the two halves of the hundred-foot Prime Seal were drifting apart in the lava lake. The true heart of the Ninth Sphere was beginning to pulse from the volcanic abyss below, threatening to swallow the mortal world in total darkness.
"The seal, Seraphina," Kaelen said, his hand extending to clasp hers. "It requires the Dual Eclipse. One last time."
