Let's talk about it.
The "sin hierarchy."
The idea that this sin is worse than that one.
That those people need more grace than these folks.
That homosexuality is some ultimate offense - but gossiping and lying get a pass.
Let's call it what it is: religious hypocrisy.
Because according to Romans 3:23, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
ALL.
Not some. Not a few. Not just the "big" sins. All.
So where did we get this system of spiritual favoritism from?
The "Sin Scale" Is a Man-Made Lie
We don't get to rate sins like restaurant stars.
God doesn't say:
Adultery = 3 stars of sin
Lying = 1 star (petty sin)
Stealing = 2.5 stars
Homosexuality = 5 stars, disqualified
That's man's system. Not God's.
Let me say this loud: There is no scripture that says God hates one sin more than the other.
But there are plenty of verses that say He hates pride, division, and judging others.
Let's Be Honest: Some People Use Scripture to Shame, Not to Save
People have misused the Bible like it's a weapon, not a lifeline.
They shout Leviticus at gay people…
But skip past scriptures that say:
"Don't eat shellfish."
"Don't wear mixed fabrics."
"Don't cut your beard."
"Honor the Sabbath and keep it holy."
Convenient, huh?
They forget John 8:7 - "Let the one without sin cast the first stone."
And they ignore Matthew 7:5 - "First remove the log from your own eye."
The Root Is Fear and Control
People fear what they don't understand.
And religion loves control.
So instead of loving, teaching, and walking with people, we condemn and exile them.
And that's not Jesus.
Jesus didn't run from sinners - He dined with them.
Newsflash: God Doesn't Need You to Be His Sin Police
You don't have to go around pointing fingers at who's holy and who's hell-bound.
God didn't call you to be the Judge.
He called you to be the Light.
Not the condemner.
Not the Twitter preacher.
Not the trauma trigger.
Just the light.
When you love people well, the Holy Spirit does the rest.
"But Isn't It Still Sin?"
Let's be clear: the Bible gives us boundaries and God's design for life and relationships.
But conviction comes through the Holy Spirit - not your mouth.
You can't shame people into repentance.
You love them into it.
You build bridges, not burn them.
Look Inward Before You Look Outward
Ask yourself:
Do I love people I don't agree with?
Do I talk about others' sins more than I pray for them?
Am I using truth to help or to hurt?
Because sometimes the "righteous" ones need saving too - from pride, from arrogance, from forgetting grace.
