Let's just go there.
If God is so good, then why do I cry myself to sleep sometimes?
Why did my mom die?
Why was I abused?
Why did I lose everything?
Why does it feel like I'm trying to hold it all together with prayers, tears, and duct tape?
Because real talk - sometimes life just hurts.
Let's Be Honest With God
We've been taught to dress it up. To say, "I'm blessed and highly favored" even when our world is falling apart.
But the Bible is full of people who were raw with God.
David said, "How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?" (Psalm 13:1)
Even Jesus cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46)
God can handle your pain.
Your anger.
Your silence.
Your doubts.
He's not scared of your tears.
He's not disappointed by your questions.
Pain Has a Purpose… Even When It Doesn't Make Sense
Now I'm not gonna feed you the cute Christian cliché: "Everything happens for a reason."
Sometimes things happen because people are cruel.
Because we live in a broken world.
Because choices have consequences.
Because free will is real.
But here's the key: God can take the worst thing and still bring something beautiful out of it.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…" - Romans 8:28
That means God doesn't waste pain. He uses it.
Think About Joseph
You know the story: betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, thrown into prison.
For YEARS.
But eventually, Joseph became second in command over all of Egypt - and he said to the same brothers who betrayed him:
"You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good…" - Genesis 50:20
That's real.
Sometimes, the people who break you are part of the path God uses to build you.
But What About the Pain I Didn't Deserve?
That's the hardest part.
The abuse.
The betrayal.
The sickness.
The trauma you didn't ask for.
And here's what I'll never do - I'll never act like that stuff was okay.
It wasn't.
But I believe this: what hurt you doesn't have the final say over you.
There's healing in Jesus that therapy supports, that time helps, and that truth frees.
Some of the most powerful people I've met are the ones who were shattered and let God piece them back together - stronger, wiser, softer, and tougher all at once.
Journal This:
What is the hardest thing you've been through?
How did it shape you?
Where was God in that moment - or where do you wish He had been?
What might healing look like for you?
Scriptures to Sit With:
Romans 8:28 - All things work together for good
Psalm 34:18 - God is close to the brokenhearted
Genesis 50:20 - God can use evil for good
Isaiah 61:3 - Beauty for ashes
2 Corinthians 12:9 - "My grace is sufficient for you…"
Final Thought:
God never promised us a pain-free life.
But He did promise His presence through it.
And sometimes the deepest worship doesn't come from a choir - it comes from a broken heart that still whispers, "God, I trust You."
Even here.
Even now.
Even through this.
