PART 15 - "Bloodlines & Bombshells"
Scene: The Engagement Party
The engagement party was nothing short of extravagant.
Held in a private garden under hanging lanterns and live string music, everything shimmered - the champagne, the candles, me in a sleek red silk dress with a slit high enough to break hearts and rules.
Devon wore a deep charcoal suit, beard freshly trimmed, cologne laced with danger. We looked like the cover of a billionaire romance novel.
Every click of a camera, every flash of a smile - perfect.
Until he showed up.
Devon's younger brother.
Kingston West.
Scene: The Tension Begins
He walked in uninvited, black suit unbuttoned, tie missing, eyes low and unreadable.
Tall like Devon.
But rougher.
More dangerous.
His beard wasn't sculpted - it was wild. His smirk? Lethal.
And when he laid eyes on me?
The whole damn party went still.
"Well, well," Kingston drawled, voice slick like whiskey. "Big bro finally put a ring on her. Took him long enough."
People laughed nervously.
Devon didn't.
His jaw tightened like concrete.
"What the hell are you doing here, King?" Devon asked through clenched teeth.
"Celebrating," he said, sipping straight bourbon. "Ain't every day you watch the love of your life marry your brother."
Scene: The Confession
I pulled Kingston aside into the marble hallway outside the party, the lights dim, tension high.
"You can't say things like that."
"I can if they're true," he said, eyes burning into mine. "You think I didn't see you first? Feel you first? I let him have you because I thought he'd fumble. But he didn't."
"You're his brother."
"And you're the woman I dream about every night."
His breath hitched.
He stepped closer.
My back met the cold wall.
I didn't move. Couldn't.
"I won't kiss you," he said. "Because if I do, I'll never stop."
Scene: Devon's Interruption
The door burst open.
Devon stood there, eyes wild, fists clenched.
"You done?" he barked at Kingston.
Kingston tilted his head, smug. "Not by a long shot."
Devon grabbed my hand and pulled me back into the party without another word. But the electricity between the three of us could've powered the whole damn city.
Scene: The War at the After Party
Later that night, Devon slammed the penthouse door shut behind us.
"He's obsessed with you," he growled.
"He confessed," I whispered.
Devon was silent.
Then: "Did you feel anything?"
The air thickened.
"…A flicker," I admitted. "Not love. Not like you. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel something."
He looked shattered for a second.
But only for a second.
Then he grabbed me - hard. Pulled me to him.
"I'm not losing you to anyone. Especially not him."
Scene: Love or Possession?
He laid me across our bed like he was reclaiming me.
Every kiss, every thrust, every breath - marked.
I moaned his name so loud I knew the neighbors knew who I belonged to.
And when it was over, when the sheets were drenched in heat and forgiveness, he whispered:
"I'll marry you tomorrow if you say the word."
